Farrar of Palmer, and George Hampton Poe, 3318 St. John’s Drive, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Poe of Garret, were married Friday evening at the home of the bride’s parents. The Rev. J. W. Stephens of Waxahachie officiated. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a brown crepe dress with champagne-colored gloves and brown accessories. Her jewelry was a pin worn by her grandmother at her wedding. The bride’s flowers were orchids. Mrs. W. O. Tigrett of Dallas, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a blue crepe dress with black accessories and pink roses. Miss Kathleen Wardlaw of Dallas, maid of honor, wore a moss green dress with black accessories and her flowers were Peruvian lilies. L. Alvin Vandygriff of Austin was best man. The rites were read before an improvised altar of greenery banked with palms and ferns, white gladioli, asters and feverfew in princess baskets on each side. Candelabra holding white tapers lighted the ceremony. Mrs. R. C. Johnson, pianist, of Palmer played the wedding music. For a reception the table was laid with lace and ornamented with asters and zinnias. White tapers in crystal candelabra stood on each side of the cake. Mrs. Earl Grizzard of Ennis presided at the three-tiered wedding cake. Mrs. L. C. Tolleson of Garrett presided at the punch bowl and Miss Evelyn Farrar of Palmer had charge of the bride’s book. Others assisting in the dining room were Miss Delma Lisman of Garrett, Miss Virginia Duff of Ferris and Mrs. J. H. Farrar of Waxahachie. After a trip to the Gulf Coast, the couple will live in Dallas. For traveling the bride chose a moss green sheer wool suit with brown accessories. The bride attended Waxahachie High School and Trinity University. The bridegroom attended Garrett High School.
