Services were held July 18 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Henry Weaver officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Born Aug. 23, 1900, in Coryell County, she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Narcissa Powell. She attended school at Owl Creek. She married Thomas Shults July 9, 1922 at Friendship. She and her husband lived in the friendship Community until WWII moving to the White Hall Community in 1942. She was a seamstress and homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death June 23, 1952. She was a member of the White Hall Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Tommie Lee Haferkamp of Gatesville, Oneta Bates Floyd of Gatesville and Lois Pearl Cathey of Duncanville; one son, J.W.Shults of Gatesville; one sister, Valera Whitney of Temple; one brother Howard B. Powell of Temple; 12 Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Lynn Haferkamp, Jeff Cathey, Billy Joe Cathey, Mike Bates, Billy Bates, Tom Shults, Bob Shults, John Shults and Jerry Shults. Honorary pallbearers were Charles N. Flowers, Vince Thill and Steve Nichols.
