Graveside services were held July 20 in Restland Cemetery with Rev. Sam Allen officiating. Born April 25, 1903 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John and Dora Durfee. He married Violet Jennings Jan. 7, 1928 in Collins, Montana. A resident of Collins for many years, he moved to Gatesville 10 years ago. He was a retired motel clerk and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gatesville. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Durfee and william Durfee, both of Gatesville; one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Gates of Stevens Point; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Restland Cemetery. The Rev. Truman Turk officiated at the services. Mr. Drosche was born October 27, 1907 in Lexington, Lee County, son of the late August and Lousise Drosche. He married Evie Bell on Oct. 2, 1932. He and his wife made their home in Lexington until moving in 1947 to Lufkin, where they stayed and he farmed until 1956. They moved to Austin, where he worked for the Austin State School until his retirement in 1980. They lived in Gatesville the past 5 years. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Alton Drosche of Austin and J. D. R. (Farmer) Fisher, 64, a retired mechanic and oil field worker who resided in Owl Creek Park on Rt. 1, Gatesville, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Minister Rex Tilly and Bro. Bill Dodd conducted the rites, and burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Mr. Fisher died sept. 3 in a Temple hospital. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claud Fisher, he was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Coryell County and was reared in the Purmela community. He served in the U.S.Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked in West Texas oil fields. Ill health forced him to give up that work and he moved to Mineral Wells, where he was employed as a mechanic with Southern Airways. In 1972, Mr. Fisher returned to the Gatesville area and for the last few years had operated the Owl Creek Water Works. Survivors include two sons, Ronny P. Daughter of the late Frank and Susan Seawright, Mrs. Everett was born Sept. 24, 1899, in Speegleville and was reared there. She was married to W. H. Everett on Oct. 14, 1917, and they made their home in Valley Mills before moving to Gatesville in 1928. Mrs. Everett, a beautician, owned and operated beauty shops in Gatesville until her retirement in 1970. Mr. Everett, a State School for Boys employee, died in 1971. Mrs. Everett was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Gatesville chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He was married to the former Ellen Robertson on Oct. 18, 1922 near Gatesville. They farmed west of this city until moving to Gatesville in 1968. FREEMAN IS FOUND MURDERED Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Freeman of College Station, a former Gatesville resident and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Bradford of this city, was found murdered near Bryan Tuesday evening. Reports reaching Coryell County Sheriff Winfred Cummings were that Mrs. Freeman, employed by a real estate firm in Bryan/College Station, had left the firm's office Tuesday afternoon to fill an appointment to show a house to a prospective purchaser. When she did not return, a search was instituted. Sheriff Cummings said Mrs. Freeman's body was found by her husband and a neighbor about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in a housing subdivision 2 1/2 miles south of Bryan. Indications were she had been stabbed to death. Law enforcement officers in the Bryan area reported that no arrests had been made Wednesday morning. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 640 where he was a past grand master. Born March 22, 1907, in Washington County, he came to Coryell County at an early age with his parents, the late Karl and Karoline Giebler, and lived in this area most of his life. He was married to Clara Kellerman on Nov. 26, 1936, and they made their home at Coryell City. Mr. Giebler was employed in McGregor and Crawford before going to work for John Graham Lumber Co. in Gatesville. While he ws working for the Graham firm, Mr. Giebler and his family moved to Gatesville in 1959. He was later employed as a building custodian for the Gatesville Independent School District. He retired in 1968. Mr. Giebler was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Born April 22, 1907, in Gonzales, he was the son of the late George Washington and Artie Huffman Gilmore. He came to Coryell County in 1919. He married Ora Sara Dollins in 1932; she preceded him in death. He farmed for two years before purchasing the General Store in Turnersville. After a stint in the trucking business, he bought the Oliver Tractor business in Gatesville, but later sold the firm and returned to Turnersville, where he build a grocery store. He was a Baptist. Survivors include: a son, Zilmon Neal (Sonny) Gilmore; a brother, Lester Gilmore of Turnersville; a sister, Madie Kelley of Gonzales; a half-sister, Pearl Coldwell of Gonzales; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. He was former president of the Oglesby Independent School Board, a charter member of Oglesby Lions Club, becoming its first president, was a board member in Coryell Community Hospital in Gatesville, was a member of the Oglesby Housing Board and was a member of Oglesby First United Methodist Church. He married Arline Jones on Oct. 24, 1930, in Oglesby and moved to Gatesville in 1985. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, Dr. Tom Tribble officiating. Mrs. griffin was born in Oglesby on Sept. 6, 1897. She worked as a switchboard operator for the Southwestern Bell Telephone office in Oglesby. When that office closed, she was transfered to the Waco office. She worked about 30 years for Southwestern Bell. She was also a member of Embery Hills United Methodist Church in Chamblee. Survivors include: one son, George Walker Griffin of Chamblee; and two grandsons. Visitation will be at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
