SPARTANSBURG DISTRICT, SC - BISHOP WILLS WILL OF ISAAC BISHOP, 1819 In the name of God Amen, I Isaac Bishop of Spartanburg District and the State of South Carolina Being of Sound and Disposing mind and Memory to make and Ordain this is my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following, that is to say-------- First I will that all my just debts and funeral--Charges be paid and discharged by my Executrix herein after named. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Frances Bishop her heirs and assigns forever this house wherein I now dwell with al lthe furniture and the lands and Tenements that lie about it also two Mares and one Colt. I also give unto my loving wife all the Stock that I now have that is all my Cattle hogs and Sheep with all my Farming Tools. I also give to Rachel Deavours and her heirs Pheby Conner & her heirs to Rachel and her heirs one dollar and fifty cents to Pheby and her heirs one dollar and fifty cents also to the heirs of Polly Ford one dollar and fifty cents. I also give to Lydia Lawrence and her heirs one dollar and fifty cents, also to E------- Elizabeth Bishop & her heirs one dollar and fifty cents. I also give to the heirs of Nancy Linn, one dollar and fifty cents. Lastly I do make and Constitute Frances Bishop, my said wife, Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. Ballenger James Ballenger William Ballenger (his mark) ----------------------------------- WILL OF WILLIAM BISHOP - 1836 State of South Carolina Spartansburg Dist In the name of God Amen: I William Bishop of the State and District aforesaid now of perfect memory - now in my right mind but quite feeble of body to make this my last Will & Testament ----- First I do will and bequeath to my daughter Rhoda one Chestnut Sorrel Filly now in my possession and one cow --- Secondly I do will and bequeath to my daughter Lucy one Cow --- Thirdly, I do will and bequeath to my Grand daughter Charity Lawrence one black and white pided Cow and Calf --- Fourthly I do will & bequeath to my grand daughter Poley Bishop one black and white pided Cow and Calf --- Fifthly I do will & bequeath to my two Sons-in-law, namely John Carver and James Lawrence one dollar each, which shall be there share of my Estate. Sixthly I do will and bequeath all the balance of my Estate both real and personal to my beloved wife Elizabeth Bishop during her life or widowhood; and at the death or marriage of my wife; I do seventhly will that what remains of my property shall be equally divided among my lawful heirs, namely Elijah Bishop, George Bishop, William Brown Bishop, Poley Hutcheson, Lucy Bishop, Charity West, Peggy Lawrence, Syntha Dangard, Rhoda Bishop, and my Grand daughter Charity Lawrence in lieu of her mother. Thus I wish to dispose of my property both real and personal- And I to hereby appoint my sons Elijah & George Bishop Joint Exor's of this my last Will & Testament. I will that my body be decently buried. 2nd. I will that all my Just debts be paid. I will that all my property and Estate of what kind so ever including monies on hand or debts due or here- after to become due to Me, in my own right and now in my possession, also a balance of My interest in my fathers Estate now in the hands of My Brother George B. Bishop, administrator of my father E. L. Bishop, Decd. This amt also I desire to be paid into the hands of My wife Frances Bishop all My property and Effects as above Mentioned Shall be and remain in the possession of my Wife for her use & benefit provided she Shall Maintain & Support & keep my four Children now living with her, Viz William, Milton, John, and Mary - Whic four children I desire to remain with my wife and the Whole as a family to have the benefit of all My Estate, Subject to the management & control of My wife who is hereby authorized to Continue in possession of all my property, collect all debts due me or which hereafter become due or in anywise liable to be Claimed by me Either in Law or equity. She is hereby authorized to Sue for & Collect as Executrix or adjust any dues which may remain unpaid. I desire that no administration be granted but tht my wife of her own will & pleasure act in premises for the benefit of herself & my four Children above named her acts and deeds to be Valid to all intents & purposes as though I had been living and transacted the Same Myself in person. McMillin who are all present and by my request & in my presence and the presence of each other have attested the Same- I do sign and declare this my last Will & Testament the 10th day of June 1858.
