McAteer, brother of Senator Harry J. McAteer, died suddenly about 2 o'clock Monday morning. Mr. McAteer was conductor of a freight train on the P.R.R. and was engaged in making up his train at the Asylum road crossing, in the Harrisburg yard, when the disease which terminated fatally, first attacked him. Remarking that he did not feel well, he went to the engine and had been in the cabin, but in a few moments, his spirit winged its flight to unknown realms. Deceased resided in Millville, near Altoona, where he leaves a wife and seven children. He was aged about 56 years, and had many friends and acquaintances who will be pained to learn of his sudden taking off. Huntingdon Journal, Huntingdon, Pa., January 21, 1887, page 3
