Ed Rutherford officiating. Mrs. Fisher died Oct. 30, 2002. She was born Nov. 4, 1925, at Non to William "Bill" and Beulah Mae Prince. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Fisher, and a daughter, Peggy Jean Fisher. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Phillips; four sisters, Anna Mae Hyort, Aline Harris, Patty Yeager and Bobbie Breshears; two grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. She was born June 18, 1917, at Woodston, Kan., to Leonard Franklin and Clara Constance Coan True. She graduated from "My Ladies Beauty School" in 1959 and opened Nell's Beauty Shop at Holdenville that same year. It was open for 43 years. She was a member of Capital Heights Missionary Baptist Church for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Lee Kibby, and a son, Elmer Lee Kibby. Survivors include a son, Billy Jack Kibby, Holdenville; two stepsons, John Michael Baldwin and Tommy Baldwin, Eufaula; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Roberts died Oct. 31, 2002, at Sulphur. He was born Feb. 15, 1919, at Blair to George Thomas and Ora Curry Roberts. He grew up in the Blair-Altus area. Mr. Roberts married Esteen Inzer Dec. 19, 1941. She died in April 1992. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Carlton College, Northfield, Minn., and had also worked in construction as a carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Northfield. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Roberts, Blanchard; two sons, Owen W. Roberts Jr., Sulphur, and Leon M. Roberts, Wyoming; a sister, Evalene Bowman, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial follows at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Talala. Mrs. Smith died Oct. 30, 2002, at a Tulsa hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1933, at Shawnee to Oren and Caroline Dill Edgmon. She was raised at Shawnee and attended Shawnee schools. She married Gerald Smith in 1957 in California. She was employed with Sylvania Electric following her graduation from high school. She also attended beauty school and worked as a cosmetologist. She also attended business college where she was trained as a tax specialist. She returned to Oklahoma in 1973 and settled in the Dustin area. She was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Glen Thomas. Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of the home; three daughters, Linda Keeter, Santa Maria, Calif., Karen Green, Seminole, and Karleta Wheat, Ada; and seven grandchildren. She was born Jan. 25, 1909, at Moore, Ark., to Hillman "Bud" and Fannie Farmer Ketcherside. She moved with her family to Tupelo in 1920 from Arkansas. She attended schools in Arkansas, at Lone Oak near Tupelo and at Tupelo. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She married Arnold D. Lafevers in 1924 at Lula. He died Jan. 12, 1981. Survivors include three daughters, Rowena Williford, Moore, Flora Bench, Stockton, Calif., and Anita Breed, Oklahoma City; two sons, Randell Lafevers, Stonewall, and Ralph Lafevers, Grand Terrace, Calif.; a sister, Avis Flanery, Manteca, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great- great-grandchildren. Burial follows at Vamoosa Cemetery. Mrs. Minor died Oct. 31, 2002, at Norman. She was born Aug. 13, 1917, at Atwood to Hurley and Jeanette McKinzie. She grew up in Atwood and graduated from Atwood High School. She attended East Central State Teacher's College, now ECU, at Ada. She had lived in Norman since 1999. She spent many years in various retail businesses, including Khoury Furniture and Lumber, Beaver & Dunn Hardware, Haynes Hardware and Gibson's Discount Store. She had also managed a clothing store and operated Wade's Hardware at Konawa. She served on several boards, including the Pioneer Women's Club of Konawa. She was also active in the Konawa Church of Christ and Southwest Church of Christ at Ada. She married Nolan Wade. He died Jan. 24, 1984, at Konawa. She married Elmo Minor. He died July 21, 1999. Survivors include three sons, David, Tulsa, Denny, Healdton, and Dale, Norman; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, J.D. She was a homemaker and former elementary school music teacher. She taught in Wynnewood, Monahans, Texas, Gillette, Wyo., and Konawa. She married Glen Chapman June 11, 1954, at Ada. She was affiliated with Southwest Church of Christ. She was a member of the Valley View Auxiliary, Healthy Heart Club, and was a former volunteer at Wichita, Kan., hospital. Survivors include her husband, Glen Chapman, of the home; a daughter, Zenda Davenport, Fort Worth, Texas; a son, Comer Chapman, Oklahoma City; a brother, Mont Comer, Longview, Texas; and four grandchildren. He was an honorary manager of the Byng School basketball and baseball teams while attending BHS. Survivors include his brother, Ted Frye. She attended Lula and Stonewall schools. She married Robert J. Anderson in 1943. She married Walter H. Gould in February 1956, at Fort Worth, Texas. He died July 18, 1987, at Ada. Mrs. Gould returned to the Lula area in 1972 from Fort Worth. She was an employee of Vought Aircraft for 26 years. She was a member of the Stonewall Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Anderson, and a grandson, Richard Anderson. Survivors include a son, Donald Anderson, Lula; a brother, Ralph Williams, Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Gean Davison, Blanchard, Mary Joyce Gregory, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Juanita Wofford, Farris; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She received numerous honors for her paintings and one of her works was selected to be part of the Trees of Christmas Exhibition in the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, Philip Higdon, Topeka; a daughter, Tammy Higdon, Little Rock, Ark.; her father, Jess Russell, Konawa, Okla.; a brother, Jack Russell, Konawa; a sister, Linda Donor Clayton, Konawa; and two grandsons. She was a volunteer for Oklahoma Blood Institute. She married Bobby Thompson Aug. 4, 1948, at Seminole. He died Sept. 1, 1981. Texas - Services for Alford Jake Barron, Denison, formerly of Davis, Okla., are 2 p.m. Thursday at Krien Funeral Home Chapel, Davis, Okla., the Rev. John Joughin officiating, Burial follows at Greenhill Cemetery, Davis. Mr. Barron died Nov. 2, 2002, at a Bonham hospital, He was born March 2, 1912, at Sulphur, Okla., to Ed and Sallie Barron. He attended Davis schools, Okla., graduating in 1932 as salutatorian. After graduating high school he attended Murray State Junior College, Tishomingo, Okla. He also attended East Central University, Ada, graduating in 1935. He married Leona Stamps July 26, 1933. He was principal and math teacher for Olive, Okla., in the 1930s. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1939, obtaining a master's degree. He eventually earned two master's degrees. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, and served in the Pacific as a gunnery officer and was honorably discharged in 1946 as 1st lieutenant. He later served as principal for Sulphur, Okla., schools, also spending time filling a 90-day vacancy as a member of the House of Representatives from Murray County, Okla. He coached basketball and track and served as referee for high school football and basketball games. In 1948, he and his family moved to Texas where Mr. Barron was employed as a teacher, coach, and superintendent for 35 years and then returned to Oklahoma where he taught for another 10 years, retiring with a total of 45 years. In 1992, Mr. Barron returned to Davis and then relocated to Denison in 1996. Survivors include his wife, Leona Stamps Barron, of the home; a son, Alford Brien Barron; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She attended schools in Pittsburg County and graduated in 1928. She married James Albert Darbison Dec. 22, 1930, at McAlester. He died in 1998. Mrs. Darbison was a homemaker and worked part time at Dollies Dry Goods at Atoka. She was a member of South Atoka Church of Christ and Southwest Church of Christ, Ada. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kristin Kay. Survivors include three daughters, Joan Loftis, Reedley, Calif., Barbara Courtney, Oklahoma City, and Norma Barnes, Madison, Miss; a son, Larry A. Survivors include his mother, Helen Rowlett, Ada. =============================================================================== OBITUARIES FOR NOVEMBER 6, 2002 HASKELL FLOYD ADA - Memorial services for Haskell Floyd, 95, Ada, are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Rev. John D. Norvell officiating. Mr. Floyd died Nov. 4, 2002, at an Allen nursing facility. He was born Sept. 8, 1907, at Ada to Charles W. and Eliza Huddleston Floyd. He attended Ada schools and graduated from East Central University where he was a state champion wrestler. He married Rosemary Hill June 12, 1930. Mr. Haskell taught school in Seminole County and McLish school at Fittstown before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving during World War II. After the war, he became a wholesale distributor for Sun Oil Company, retiring in 1977. He was a longtime active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Floyd, of the home; a son, Joe Hill Floyd, Hobbs, N.M.; two granddaughters; and four great-granddaughters. Mrs. Lancaster died Nov. 5, 2002, at her home. She was born May 7, 1927, at Vanoss to Haggi and Susie Lee. She graduated from Ada High School. She married Clarence Kenneth Lancaster Aug. 2, 1945, Mrs. Lancaster was a secretary, homemaker, and bookkeeper. She was a member of Colbert Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Roland Lancaster, Ada; three daughters, Freda Squires, Middletown, R.I., Nita Bryant, Moore, and Susie Whitworth, Greenville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Mrs. Holcomb died Nov. 5, 2002, at Stratford. She was born May 19, 1914, at St. Joseph, Mo., to Franklin and Lena Morford Spencer. She was a homemaker. She married Gordon Holcomb. He died in 1983. He attended grade schools in Ada and Ardmore, high school in Fort Worth, Texas, and Tarrant County Junior College. He was a desk clerk for the Holiday Inn in Ardmore and Lake Murray Lodge. He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother, Helen Rowlett, Ada; two half-brothers, Charles Rowlett and James Rowlett, both of North Carolina. Freddie Clark officiating. Burial follows at Athens Cemetery. Miss Watson died Nov. 2, 2002, at a local hospital. she was born Feb. 9, 1931, at Boswell to Josh Hester and Arillion Watson. She moved to this area from Boswell as a youth and attended school at Napier. She was employed with the state of Oklahoma in the Pontotoc County Health Department as a community health worker. She retired in 1995 after 25 years of service. She was active in the Reaper Baptist Church and volunteered at her church clinic and going to the homes of shut-ins for medical services. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila King and Renae Peoples, both of Ada; and a son, Michael Watson, Ada. She was preceded in death by a son. Bearers are Lester Albert, John Gillispie, Clarence Osborne, Alonzo Albert, Al McDowell and Tony Nelson. Honorary bearers are Vernon Nolen, William Briggs, Chester Clark and Eddie Weaver.
