Worth, Texas, died on Friday, Aug. 24, in Ithaca, N.Y. in a jet plane crash. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Ardmore. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home, Ardmore. Read was born on Dec. 16, 1968 in Washington, D.C. to Jennifer Read. He grew up i the Ardmore area. In 1987, he graduated from Ardmore High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. He was a Seabee in the US Naval Reserve and was Honorably Discharged in 1991. He was an award-winning member of the Flying Aggies Flight Team at Oklahoma State University where he graduated in 1995. He married Stephanie Stoffle in Oklahoma City on June 18, 1994 and moved to Atlanta, Ga. where he was a flight instructor until joining Ameristar in El Paso, Texas in 1999. Early the next year, he and his family were transferred to Fort Worth where he was based at the Addison Airport. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. At the time of his death, Read was working toward a lifetime goal of joining the NASA space shuttle program as an astronaut. Read is preceded in death by his grandparents Royce and Fern Craighead, Ardmore. He is survived by his wife Stephanie of the home; twin sons, Jacob Allen and Nikolas Ryan, of the home; an unborn child; mother Jennifer Read, Lone Grovel; James Read, Lone Grove; sister Stacy Wilson, Lone Grove; niece and nephew Shannon and Robbie Wilson, Lone Grove; and great grandmother, Sarah T. Williams, Bartlesville. She was born Nov. 6, 1909, in Delaney, Ark., to Artie Cleveland Shipman and Addie Elizabeth Elvington Shipman. She was a housewife and factory worker and attended Bidding Creek Baptist Church at Wauhillau. She married James Thomas Jones in Tahlequah on Mar. 1, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James T. Jones; one brother, Arlin Clyde Shipman; and one sister, Leona Pauline Churchill. Services are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Stillwater. A memorial reception will be held at the Sheerar Museum Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friends are invited to come and greet the family. Brittan, an Oklahoma State University Professor Emeritus, was born in Whitewright, Texas, Aug. 26, 1903, to Emmett and Nell (Roberts) Penn. She received her early education in Whitewright, where her father was a banker, businessman and civic leader. She graduated from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, in 1924 with a degree in Art and Art Education. After graduation she taught at Texas Tech, Texas A & I, East Texas State University, Texas Women's University and Columbia Episcopal Institute in Tennessee. In 1927, she received a Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York City and upon graduation she taught at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Penn., before joining the faculty at Oklahoma A & M - now OSU- in 1930. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, and by her husband, Lt. Colonel Neil Brittan. Colonel Brittan, a native of Waukomis and an Oklahoma A&M graduate, was a casualty of World War II. Brittan left Oklahoma A&M in 1933 due to Colonel Brittan's military career and was asked to return in 1942 where she remained an art professor until her retirement in 1969. An artist, educator and writer, Brittan was named to "Who's Who of American Women", and served on many OSU faculty committees. Her unique art form, stitchery wall hangings, were featured in many important exhibitions in the southwest including the Philbrook Art Museum in Tulsa and the Oklahoma City Art Museum. She had numerous exhibitions in Stillwater and at OSU. Brittan was a member of the National League of American Pen Women and her arts-crafts articles appeared in such magazines as Seventeen, American Girl, Better Homes and Gardens, Boy's Life and Farm Journal. For 25 years she served as judge and superintendent of the women's division at the State Fair of Oklahoma. Upon retirement from OSU, she became the first curator of the Sheerar Museum in Stillwater. She was named Charter Curator Emeritus of the Museum and is a charter member of the Stillwater Arts & Humanities Council and an honorary board member of the Stillwater Museum Association. She served on the YMCA Advisory Board and was a founder of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church Thrift Shop. In 1994, the Rena Penn Brittan Reading Room was named in her honor in the Art Department at OSU. This room houses her personal art collection and her many books on art and the arts. In 1999 she received the prestigious Pioneer Spirit Award from her alma mater, Texas Women's University, for "her remarkable contributions to the University." Other memberships included Browning Society, PEO, Stillwater Writers, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Oklahoma Writers Federation, OSU Emeriti Association and the Texas Women's University Alumni Association. Brittan is survived by one son, Shawnee Nelson Brittan and his wife, Joanna Chaplin of Oklahoma City, and by one daughter, Lamoine Brittan Kearce and her husband, Jim of Blountstown, Fla. Duncan, Stillwater, OK 74074. ****************************************************** Horace Wright Horace Edmund Wright, 93, Stillwater, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church. Dr. William Inglish will preside. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Wright was born to Lucius S. and Alice (Petts) Wright Feb. 8, 1908, in Garden City, Mo. He married Edythe D. Lawley Nov. 4, 1931, in Weleetka. She preceded him in death July 1, 1987. Wright moved to Weleetka in 1919, where he graduated from high school and soon began working for the U.S. Post Office. He and his wife moved to Henryetta in 1935 and another job transfer in 1938 brought them to Stillwater. Wright was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a deacon and and elder at the church, as well as chairman of the board for three years and treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of the retired federal employees, Payne County Chapter, serving as treasurer for 12 years. He was also a member of the Golden Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one granddaughter. He is survived by two sons, James C. Wright of Lompoc, Calif., Robert L. Wright, Stillwater and daughter, Mary and her husband, Ray Herrold of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She moved at the age of eight to Oilton and later to Drumright. She also lived in Yale and was educated there. She and her family attended the Assembly of God Churches in the areas where they lived. Hinkle was born in Pocahontas, Ark., Dec. 30, 1898, to William M. and Alice (Upshaw) Hinkle. He married Phoebe Ann Hagar Oct. 23, 1922, in Chandler. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1923. He married Jewel Sneed on July 6, 1927, in Guthrie. She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 1994. Hinkle attended school in Dalton, Ark. He lived and worked in the Carney and Depew areas from 1918 until he moved to Tryon in 1940. He owned and operated the Hinkle Hardware Store in Tryon for 55 years, retiring at the age of 97. He was a member of the Carney Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his two wives; four brothers; four sisters; two sons, Carl Hinkle and Leon Hinkle; one daughter-in-law, Tillie Hinkle; and one granddaughter, Micalin Sue Staten. Merlyn C. Lohrke will officiate. Services are under the direction of Palmer Funeral Home. Lewis was born Jan. 28, 1921, in Stuart to Daisy Mae Crick and William Ivan Lewis. He was the youngest of five children. He married Frances E. Rollison on Sept. 20, 1941, in Atlanta. He retired in 1962 as a lieutenant colonel after 22 years in the U.S. Army. He and his family lived in Oklahoma City for 12 years before moving in 1974 to Agra, where he lived for 27 years. Lewis was an active member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and enjoyed playing golf, raising cattle, trail riding, training horses and spending time with family. He was predeceased by his wife on December 29, 2000; a daughter, Shelle Nancy Lewis in May 1986; a sister, Gwendoyn Lewis; and a brother, Glen Lewis. She graduated from Pioneer High School and began a long career in health care. She worked all over the Garfield County area before taking a position at Stillwater Medical Center. She retired in 1987 after 30 years of service with Stillwater Medical Center, returning to Enid to care for her mother. Brown was a member of Christian Union Church of Douglas and the church's women's group. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Art, Joe and Victor. Weaver was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Mena, Ark., to John Weaver and Lillian Chambers Weaver. He was a farmer/rancher and an oil field worker. He was a longtime resident of Blackburn until his retirement in 1993. He was an active community leader in the Blackburn area, where he served on the Blackburn School Board and the Blackburn City Council. He was a member of the Blackburn United Methodist Church and more recently a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. He was a member of the Pawnee County Cattleman's Association and served for many years as an inspector for the County Election Board. He was a longtime member of the Farm and Home Administration Loan Committee for Pawnee County. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Franklin Bee Weaver; and two sisters, Opal Hunt and Marie Harris. Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home is directing arrangements. She married Addison Bernard Smith Jr. Aug. 26, 1995, in Austin, Texas. After graduating from Northeastern State University with a B.S. in elementary education she taught second grade at Lakewood Elementary School in Houston. She taught one year at Barton Creek Elementary and two years at Bridge Point Elementary in Austin. After the birth of their first child she retired from teaching to fulfill her dream of raising her children. She died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Grace Living Center. Feighner was born June 25, 1914, in Clark, Colo., to George Eden and Gertrude Josephine (Fink) McCroskey. She graduated from Fredonia (Kan.) High School in 1932. On Sept. 17, 1939, she married Glenn Feighner in Chanute, Kan. She and her husband served many churches across the United States and started four or five churches. The last church was in Red Bluff, Calif. She had worked at County Hospital in Red Bluff as a nurse's aide, retiring in the early 1970s. She came to Stillwater in 1974 following her husband's death. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Izaak Walton League, Audubon Society and Evening Star HCE Club. Feighner was predeceased by her parents, husband, one sister, Eileen Robertson; one brother, George H., McCroskey and one stepson, Claude Feighner. Murphy was born April 6, 1915, in Davidson to William Hymen and Hannah (Phillips) Murphy. She attended first grade at Stonypoint School. She also attended Kellyville, Kendrick and Quay schools, graduating from high school in Quay in 1933. She graduated from Oklahoma City General Hospital School of Nursing in 1937. She was the visiting nurse for the Oklahoma State Public Health Services from 1938 to 1942. Murphy entered the Army Nurse Corps in 1942, serving until 1962, and defending our country in World War II in France, the Rhineland, central Europe and Ardennes. She served with the Evaluation Hospital with the Third Army in Europe during World War II and General Hospital in Japan during the Korean War. Her medals include the EAME Campaign Medal with four bronze stars; the World War II Victory Medal; the American Campaign Medal and two overseas service bars. She was honorably discharged from the Army Nurse Corps as a major. She was a member of the American Legion, Retired Army Nurses Association and was a member of the First Christian Church. Murphy is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bessie Bowers, Leota Bulling and Verda Mae Dawkins; and brother Jonathan. She moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba and later to Island Falls, Saskatchewan where she met and married the late Robert Gordon Parker of Killarney, Manitoba. They married in the United Church in Swan River, Manitoba June 30, 1939. Parker was an employee at Simpson's Department Store in London for over 30 years where she enjoyed working with customers and her many colleagues. She was a member of Ivanhoe Curling club for many years where she enjoyed her many friends and teammates. She enjoyed golfing for the challenge as well as golfing friends. She has been a long-time member of Trinity United Church and was active in the many activities of the Trinity United Women's Organization. She enjoyed helping with the annual turkey dinners that have become a Trinity tradition. For two years, Parker lived in Stillwater with her son Lorne Parker and his family. While in Stillwater she attended First Christian Church and participated in some of the church's activities. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Lynn Roberts and Harold Roberts. She was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Wellston where she grew up and received her early education. She graduated from Wellston High School in 1928. In 1929 she and her family moved to Stillwater. She earned a B.S. degree from Oklahoma A and M College in 1938 and in 1950 received her M.S. from Pennsylvania State University. She did post-graduate study at Oklahoma State University. Her professional career began as a school teacher in the Orlando Consolidated School. She served as Grady County OSU Extension home economist in Chickasha from 1942 until 1947. She then came to OSU and served as state cooperative extension foods and nutrition specialist until she retired in 1972. After she retired she was an active member of the Stillwater Medical Center Auxiliary and Mobile Meals program for the home-bound. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a past president of the Chickasha Business and Professional Women's Club; a member of the American Association of University Women; Oklahoma and American Home Economics Association; Stillwater chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Payne County Retired Educators Association; and life member of the OSU Emeriti Association. In 1945, she met her future husband, Bob, who was home on leave. They were married on Aug. 30, 1947 in the University Baptist Church in Tulsa. After living a short while in Minot, N.D., the couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1952 where she worked for Pettee Hardware on North May. After completing bookkeeping/accounting classes, she worked for Oklahoma Gear Machine Shop in Capitol Hill. She then worked as the office manager at Hilander Bowling Palace until she retired in 1986 to help after the birth of her first granddaughter. She was a long time member of the Epsilon-Rho chapter of ESA a business women's sorority; the Oak Leaf Book Club; several bridge groups; and the Dinner and Tripoley gang. She was a longtime member of the University Baptist in Tulsa; the Village Christian Church when she moved to Oklahoma City and since 1974 the Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church and the Pathfinder Sunday School class. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. She excelled at party planning and was the perennial social chair hostessing memorable parties. She loved traveling, especially the annual trips to Alaska to visit with her son Bob Jr. and his family. She volunteered her time to shampoo and set hair for patients at the Oklahoma Medical Research Hospital. She adopted a family and took the five children on Christmas shopping trips until they were grown. She also purchased presents for the parents and provided Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. She was a busy, happy lady and is remembered mainly as a very loving, caring, giving, dedicated wife, mother and friend. He married Jean Savage on Nov. 12, 1944, in Greenville, S.C. He attended school in LeFlore. After he graduated he attended Southeastern College. When war was declared, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in Burma. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 4, 1946. He then attended Oklahoma A&M College and graduated in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering with an aeronautical option. He moved to Tulsa where he worked for the Public Service Department. He later transferred to Weleetka. In 1952, he went to work for Westinghouse in the jet propulsion lab in Kansas City, Mo. In 1957, he began working for General Dynamics on the B-58 in Fort Worth. In 1962, he began working at the missile site in Altus and lived in Childress. Later that year he moved to Claremore where he worked for Rockwell in Tulsa on the propulsion portion of the Apollo Project. In 1970, he worked on loan with the hydraulics of the DC-10 for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. In 1971, he began working for T.D. Williamson in Tulsa as a quality control manager. When he retired in 1983 he and his wife moved to Lake Tenkiller and in 1997 moved to Stillwater. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fly-fishing, reading, cars and being with his family. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant grandson, Kenneth James Litchenburg. She lived in Buffalo until she met her husband Calvin Donald Bair and Married Sept. 10, 1948, in Clayton, N.M., in her fiance's parent's house. She lived in Clayton until the couple divorced in 1975 and moved to Marshall, Mo., to be with her family. In 1984 she moved to Perkins to be close to her daughter, Sue. After the loss of her daughter, Marie, she raised her grandchild, Casey. Bair had lived at Rosewood Nursing Center for the past 11 months. She loved working puzzle books, needle crafts and embroidery work. Her church membership was Baptist. Bair was predeceased by her parents, one son, Carl; one daughter, Marie, and one brother, Earl Breshears. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Community Building south of Perkins under the direction of the Native American Church with Mr. Tom Roughface officiating. Interment will follow at the Iowa Tribal Center under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. He was born March 5, 1924 in Perkins to Amable and Mary Ford Bassett Springer. He attended grade schools in Perkins and graduated from Perkins High School. He married Ruth McClellan on Dec. 27, 1941 and lived in Perkins until 1952. He moved to Arkansas City, Kan. where he worked for the New Era Mill until his retirement in October 1987. He then returned to Perkins. His hobbies included talking about his Indian culture and traditions. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and in his later years he enjoyed watching his children in their sports activities. He was an enrolled member of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma and held the office of president. He was also president of the Iowa Chapter Native American Church, and former Iowa Tribal Chairman and a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife; one son, Tyrone Springer; one daughter, Monica Springer Harden and one brother, Wiley Springer. Survivors include: four daughters, Katherine Gashwazra and husband Marvin of Tryon, Shirley Blenden and husband Melvin of Arkansas City, Kan., Beverly Springer and husband Ivan Buffalohead of Perkins and Grace Springer and husband Jimmy Douglas of Tryon; two sons, Leroy Springer of Wichita, Kan. and Louis F. He married Jean Savage on Nov. 12, 1944, in Greenville, S.C. He attended school in LeFlore. After he graduated he attended Southeastern College. When war was declared, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in Burma. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 4, 1946. He then attended Oklahoma A&M College and graduated in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering with an aeronautical option. He moved to Tulsa where he worked for the Public Service Department. He later transferred to Weleetka. In 1952, he went to work for Westinghouse in the jet propulsion lab in Kansas City, Mo. In 1957, he began working for General Dynamics on the B-58 in Fort Worth. In 1962, he began working at the missile site in Altus and lived in Childress. Later that year he moved to Claremore where he worked for Rockwell in Tulsa on the propulsion portion of the Apollo Project. In 1970, he worked on loan with the hydraulics of the DC-10 for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. In 1971, he began working for T.D. Williamson in Tulsa as a quality control manager. When he retired in 1983 he and his wife moved to Lake Tenkiller and in 1997 moved to Stillwater. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fly-fishing, reading, cars and being with his family. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant grandson, Kenneth James Litchenburg. He was a successful businessman in El Paso, Texas and rancher in New Mexico. After retiring the couple moved to Perkins. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Visitation will be in the Craig County Baptist Church on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Vinita. Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home. He was born to David Marion Inman and Elsie Dorothy Tilden Inman on Dec. 19, 1935 in Grove. He was reared and educated in several different cities, including Grove, Langley, Vinita and Jay. He married to Donna R. Johnston on May 22, 1955 in Quapaw and they had four daughters and one son, Donna, Dorothy, Laura, Deborah, and Joe Jr. He had worked in the Vinita Police Department for three years prior to being accepted into the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in 1970. He retired from OHP in 1990. One of his true loves, was the Highway Patrol and even following his retirement, he continued to be involved with them. For several years, he served as an instructor at the academy and was also an armorer for the OHP. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by his 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who he loved to be with. In addition to law enforcement, he loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Noble Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason with his consistory at Tulsa. He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Donna of the home in Norman; four daughters, Donna Floyd and her husband Bob of Vinita, Dorothy Inman of the home, Laura Ohrenberg and her husband, Robert of Oklahoma City, and Deborah Henson and her husband James of Oklahoma City; one son, Joseph John Inman, Jr. of the home; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one foster child, Mont Huff of Oklahoma City; 4 foster grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Keil became Loyal during World War I. She grew up in Hennessey and graduated from Hennessey High School with honors. During her high school years, she participated in Rainbow Girls, Drama Club, Peppy Pals, and the Debate Team. After high school, she graduated from Enid Business College and attended Oklahoma A&M. At age 19, she married Rob Benjamin Kee. Together they had two daughters, Carita Jane and Anne Yvonne, and one son, Robert Elmer, who died in infancy. During World War II, she worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kan. In 1945 she moved her young daughters to Stiliwater where she became the office manager of Oklahoma Crop Improvement. She later worked 18 years with the Soil Conservation Service, from which she retired in 1974. She was given an award in recognition of high quality performance and exceptional accuracy of work during her last year there. She married her childhood friend, Deane Raley, during her early retirement years. They married in 1982. Together they enjoyed their retirement by traveling to Russia, China and various places across the globe. After Deane's death, Louise lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Bill Schneider of Tulsa. She lived in various places, while her husband pursued a career in the oil business. In 1930, they moved to Oklahoma City and lived there until 1975, when they returned to Maramec. Keller was a charter member of the Jordan Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of Spring Creek Extension Club and was involved in St. Anthony's Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, Cub Scouts and various school activities. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her son, Lt. Col. A.W. Keller; three brothers; and two sisters. Hogrefe Brennan in Coffeyville, Kan. He was reared and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cashing High School with the class of 1995. His many activities in school included serving as class president his freshman, sophomore and junior years and as vice-president his senior year. He played basketball and tennis; was a member of the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society. He had received the American Legion award and as a junior and was selected by the Rotary Club to attend the Rotary Leadership Conference. Between his Junior and Senior years at Cushing, he had also served as a Page at the Oklahoma State Capitol for Representative Dale Wells. He enjoyed the youth of this community and for several years was very active at the Cushing Youth Center, coaching many different turns and officiating many games of all sports. Following high school, he attended and graduated from Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Minor in Journalism. He was a member of the Saint's Peter and Paul Catholic Church and during school was active with the Church youth group. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to write. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Little was born in rural Major County near Ames on April 2, 1918, to Alfred E. and Mabel (Turner) Little. He attended rural Lacy High School west of Hennessey. He attended Oklahoma A&M, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and earned a master's degree in agronomy in the spring of 1940. Later, he took more graduate courses from Texas Technological College and Phillips University. He married Luceil Hodges on Oct. 9, 1938. After college, Little worked in Oklahoma with the Soil Conservation Service as an agronomist and an economist on watersheds needing flood prevention. During World War II, he worked for the War Department in Denison, Texas, constructing some 34 Army airfields in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas. After the war, he worked with SCS on flood prevention for several years. During this time and later in Lacy, he worked with the Boy Scouts as an assistant scoutmaster. In 1947, he and his family moved back to the old family farm near Lacy, where he farmed and taught veterans vocational agriculture in Lacy and Hennessey. He later owned and operated a grade-A dairy and raised registered Charolais cattle. When he retired, he and his wife moved to Stillwater, where he was a member of the United Methodist Church. For several years, he and his wife helped deliver food for Mobile Meals. He took art classes before retiring and enjoyed painting and drawing. He also enjoyed searching for arrowheads on the farm. She grew up around Parker, S.D., where she went to grade school, later moving to Oklahoma and graduating from Yale High School. She worked at University Hospital in Oklahoma City during the Great Depression and Kelsey Hays Defense Plant in Detroit during World War II making machine guns. Thompson lived in Stillwater in the 1940s. She had also worked at John A. Brown, Buchanan Portrait Studio and The Squire Shop of Shephard Mall where she retired in the late 1970s. Thompson was married to James Ritchie Moore from 1942 to 1960 and later married to William Howard Thompson from 1994 until his death in 1999. She was a member of Classen Boulevard Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband; one brother, John Wilbur Hadley; four sisters, Vanera Boese, Lois Prikryl, Luella Marie Roton and Dorothy Arnelda Hadley. He was born Nov. 6, 1951 to Charlaine Davis Anderson and the late Oscar S. He entered the oil and gas business in 1973 as a production manager, and had recently served as President of Oilfield Operating Company. He was an avid bird watcher, and lived for life's experiences. He was fascinated by the diversity of all cultures and beliefs. Ben was a mentor in the Cushing Public school system, past Rotary President, and taught Sunday School. He was a very spiritual man who embraced all religions and cultures. He married Wanda Kinzie on July 22, 1945, and they had one daughter, Teresa. The couple had lived in the Ripley and Cushing area since their marriage. Buckles worked for Midland Refinery, which later became Hudson Refinery, for more than 39 years before the refinery closed in the early 1980s. In addition to working in the refinery, he enjoyed raising cattle and farming, but always found time to attend his granddaughter's sporting events from the time she was in the fifth grade all the way through high school. Buckles was a member of Big Creek Church of the Brethren Church. He enjoyed making things out of cast iron and working with pecan trees. His true love was his family. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. In 1963, he earned his M.S. in economics and for 35 years taught at Oklahoma City University as a professor of economics. He also served as associate dean of the business school. His career highlights include developing and teaching M.B.A. programs in southeast Asia. He served as deacon at the First Presbyterian Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad and square dancing. Among his many passions, he loved music, especially opera. When he retired in 1995 he returned to Stillwater and served as president of the College Gardens Neighborhood Association; chapter advisor of SAE, OSU; was a member of the Stillwater Building and Trades Board; and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were under the direction of Palmer Funeral Home. Hancock was born Aug. 28, 1899, in Washington County, Ark., to Robert Lee and Nancy E. Hancock. He came by train to Oklahoma in February 1917 at the age of 17. He arrived at Depew-Stroud area to work in the oil field. Later he moved to Bristow. His first job in Oklahoma was with the Frisco Railroad as a night watchman. He walked the tracks from Depew to Stroud, 11 miles, each night, carrying a lantern and a gun watching for saboteurs during World War I, checking all culverts and bridges. He later went to work for the Old Prairie Pipe Line Company where he worked for 43 years and five months. He married Fannie Poston Sept. 24, 1923. The couple had two children Robert and Dorothy. Robert died in 1983. In 1966, Hancock and his wife Fannie moved to Cushing. Hancock is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Cearley and family in Oklahoma City. He was born Sept. 18, 1908, in Black Rock Ark., to John and Ida (Foster) Buckmaster. He grew up south of Muskogee and attended Bald Hill School through the third grade, but was forced to leave his formal education to help on the family farm. The companies he later worked for sent him to trade schools to learn to read blueprints and he continued his education first hand through on the job training. He married Nellie A Hammack Feb. 7, 1927, in Muskogee. She died Nov. 22, 1977. He married MayBelle Ida Hohlbrecher March 22, 1978. He worked in the pipeline industry all over the state but mostly in southern Oklahoma, with the pipefitters union Local 344. He also installed refrigeration and heating units in new Safeway stores until the 1930's. He was very active in founding 27 Pentecostal Churches throughout Oklahoma. His home church was the River of Life in Stillwater. He loved being surrounded by children and received awards from Larry Jones for the Feed the Children Foundation. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Strode Chapel with Pastor Jerry D. Dockery officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coyle under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Dilworth to William Ray and Eunice Alberta (Shoemaker) Longan. He attended elementary school in Blackwell and graduated from Paradise School. While serving in World War II, he was taken prisoner of war, December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. He married Eloise Vines Dec. 20, 1945, at Tallulah, La. He lived in Stillwater and served in the National Guard. In 1950, he volunteered to serve with the 45th Infantry of the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant in the engineers and infantry divisions during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and worked as a farmer, a heavy equipment operator, an oil field worker and a union glass glazer, both in Stillwater and California. He worked for the city of Stillwater as a heavy equipment operator and in flood control until 1988. He was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church, the VFW and the Ex-POW and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Jerry Longan. Currently Linder was employed by the Paragon Film Company in Broken Arrow and prior to that had worked for Ahrberg Mill for several years. They made their home in Yale, where McNiel was active in the Four Bar Round-up Club, Osage Roping Club and the First Baptist Church. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, retail salesperson and housewife, but most of all was a devoted to God and to her family.
