The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JOHN HENRY (JOHNNY) JOHNSON, Jr. OCNS - February 27, 2002 - John Henry (Johnny) Johnson, Jr., 76, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2002 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, following a lengthy illness. Johnny was born September 14, 1925, in Boulanger, Oklahoma, to John H. and Alta (Dilman) Johnson. He was united in marriage on September 30, 1955, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, to Jo Ann Worl who survives at the home in Pawhuska. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Johnny was a retired businessman. During World War II, Johnny worked for the Civil Service at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, where he became a pilot. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Korea from 1953-1955 as a Radar Specialist. After returning from Korea, Johnny worked for Cities Service Oil Company Production Division and later built Jo's Dari-Land in Pawhuska, which he operated with his wife, Jo, for thirty years until his retirement in 1992. Survivors in addition to his wife Jo Ann are: Two daughters, Linda Sue "Susie" Johnson of Portland, Oregon, and Brenda Jo blithe of Cleveland, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Lindsey Blythe of Oklahoma City, Brett Blythe of Lawrence, Kansas, and Kylie and Jarrett Blythe, both of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jerry Johnson of Skiatook, Oklahoma, and Jack Johnson of Shawnee, Kansas; a sister, Joan Sims of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, an aunt, Rachel Bracken of McLeansboro, Illinois, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Dilman Johnson, his father and stepmother, John H. and Ruby Johnson; a sister, Marjorie Wood; a niece, Paula Wood; and his grandparents, Ola and Virgie Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dilman. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, at the First United Methodist Church, Pawhuska, with Pastor Julie Sherrock officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
