"JIM" McKINLEY OCNS - March 22, 2002 - Lifelong resident of the Osage County, Oklahoma, area, James B. McKinley, 84, passed away Thursday, March 21, at his residence in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mr. McKinley was born November 5, 1917, in Caney, Kansas, the son of George and Treva (Brown) McKinley. On September 10, 1947, at the Rocking Chair Ranch located north of Pawhuska, he and Elizabeth "Betty" Wells were married. The ranch had been estaglished by the McKinley Family in 1945. Jim and Betty continued to work and live at the ranch until their retirement. Jim served in the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the National, Oklahoma and Osage County Cattlemen's Associations. in 1958, he was the first Osage County 4-H Honoree, was a member of the Osage Tribe of Indians and was the grandson of former Chief of the Osages, Charles Brown. Survivors are: His wife of fifty-four years, Elizabeth McKinley of the home; a son, Charles B. "Mack" McKinley and wife, Kris, of Pawhuska; two daughters, Marilyn Ann Atterberry of Pawhuska and Judith Ann Larremore and husband, Jim, of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends. A memorial services will be held Monday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Pawhuska, with Reverend Scott Fischer officiating. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
