All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :: Miller, Monroe Lee "Monty" Monroe Lee 'Monty' Miller was born September 22, 1931 in Sulphur, Oklahoma and passed peacefully from this life on November 15, 2004 in his home in Del City after a year long struggle with ALS (commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease). Monty is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Couchman Miller; 2 daughters, Kim Singleton of Atlanta, GA and Jan Oleson also of Del City; a son in law Kenny Oleson; and three grandchildren, Jessica Oleson, Jake Singleton and Jeremy Oleson, who were the joy of his life. Monty was born and raised in humble beginnings in Sulphur and entered the Army at an early age. He was stationed in Germany where he played football for the Army. Upon returning to Oklahoma, Monty began his career in Aviation at Tinker Air Force Base and concluded his career at the age of 50, retiring from the Federal Aviation Administration as a Flight Inspection Technician. Monty was an active member of Del City Christian Church for over 40 years, where he served in almost every volunteer capacity from Chairman of the Board to Youth Sponsor. He was a member of Kiwanis and was best known for his optimistic attitude and neighborly demeanor. Monty rarely met a stranger and if you knew him at all, you likely knew of his devotion to his wife Donna, his pride and love for his family and friends, and his strong faith in God. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Monty's life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Del City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice Quality Care, 921 S. Sooner Rd., Del City, OK 73115 or the MDA Neuromuscular Center, 4221 S. Western, Oklahoma City, OK 73109.
