All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Springfield Memorial Gardens--Springfield OR Eugene Register Guard Jun 9, 2005 Thomas Fondren SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held today, June 9, for Thomas Joseph "Tom" Fondren of Springfield, who died June 6. He was 84. The family chose not to list the cause of death. Fondren was born May 2, 1921, in Frederick, Okla., to B. Frank and Virgie Keeter Fondren. He married Carmen Ramsey on Feb. 1, 1942, in Lawton, Okla. He served in the Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Oregon and later taught classes in insurance underwriting and casualty at the university. Fondren had worked as an owner and agent of Springfield Insurance Agency. He was a charter member and past president of the Springfield Lions Club and this year received an award for 55 years of membership. He was a member of Ebbert Memorial United Methodist Church in Springfield. He belonged to the American Legion for 58 years and the Masonic Lodge of Guthrie, Okla., for 62 years. He enjoyed coin collecting and golf. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Leaburg and Gary of Springfield; and three grandchildren. Today's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Ebbert Memorial United Methodist Church in Springfield. Inurnment will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
