He died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. A graveside service was held at the Cashion Cemetery on Dec. 26, under direction of Davis Funeral Home in Guthrie. He was born July 13, 1934, in Archer City, Texas, to Clarence D. and Blanche Lunnon Eakins. He lived in the Guthrie-Cashion area all his life. He was employed as a truck driver and painter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his companion, Karen Francis and her son, Sydney; two sons, David Eakins of Cashion and Dan Eakins of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Ina Beutler and husband Jim, Linda Harman and husband Warren, Margie Christy and husband Terry and Donna Adams and husband Russell, all of Cashion, and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joann.
