She was 79. Funeral services were held at 11 am Tuesday, November 2 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Coy Light presiding. Interment was in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Maxine Eckler was born September 14, 1920 at Carlyle, Kansas, the daughter of Harvey Upshaw and Elizabeth (Lindenstruth) Upshaw. She attended grade school at Carlyle, graduated from Iola High School, and attended Ponca City Business College. She was united in marriage to Henry Raymond "Buck" Eckler on June 11, 1937 at Iola, Kansas where the couple made their first home. They also lived in Coffeyville, Kansas prior to moving to Newkirk in 1950 and to Ponca City in 1965. Mrs. Eckler was employed by the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services for 24 years and was manager at the Ponca City Senior Citizen Center for 10 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Senior Citizen Bowling League and the Sundowners Bowling League. Her enjoyments were arts, crafts, sewing, bowling, bingo and golf, and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Don Eckler, Germantown, Tennessee and Dale Gene Eckler, Lebanon, Tennessee; three sisters, Mabel Peters, Iola, Kansas, Virginia Lesley, Sun City, Arizona and Ruby Leonard, Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, Charles Upshaw, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ralph Upshaw, St. Joseph, Missouri and Harvey Upshaw, Memphis, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Ronald Dean Upshaw, four brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 1904 N.
