Born in Tishomingo, Okla., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 22 years. Retired, he was a battery expert in civil service at McClellan Air Force Base. He was a pilgrim of the Loyal Order of the Moose; Marysville Elks Lodge 783, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Sons in Retirement No. 45; Hard Top Driver; and Disabled American Veterans. He also was the Hi-Y adviser for La Sierra High School in Sacramento. He received the Purple Heart while serving as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mabel Carter of Yuba City; two daughters, Charline Gonder of Carmichael and Bobbe Lea Kuhn of Arizona; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Services: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave., Yuba City.
