Simmons, May 20, 1871, to this union were born 4 children, 2 having preceded her in death, and W. L. Simmons of Marland, Oklahoma and Margret Wasson of Norge. At a very early age she united with the Methodist church; throughout her lifetime remained a true and ardent Christian. She was a faithful devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Not only was her entire life given to the dutiful care of a mother, but reared as her own children, 2 grandchildren whom she lived to see grown into manhood. It may well be said that her life was useful, dedicated to her family and to her God. She had lived in this vicinity for approximately 30 years. She is known by almost every man, woman and child as a kind, tender grandmother. In addition to her husband, son, daughter and brother, Weldon Brooks, who survive her, she leaves to mourn her loss 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Throughout her long and active life, she has been an inspiration for the good and noble things in life. Her passing leaves a place indeed hard to fill. There are many who will miss her kind and tender words of encouragement in life's dark hours. She has reaped her just reward in heaven without fear of death or eternity. Submitted by Sandi Carter
