All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Walters Cemetery--Walters OK Lawton Constitution 24 May 2004 Glendel Copeland WALTERS -- Funeral for Glendel Copeland, 76, Walters, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Walters First Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane Doty officiating. Mr. Copeland died Friday, May 21, 2004, in Walters. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. He was born June 12, 1927, in Lawton to Jesse B. and Beulah M. Copeland. He grew up in Walters and after high school, he joined the Merchant Marines serving from 1945 to 1947. After his return home, he bought a new wheat truck and began farming. He later owned and operated some Conoco Stations. He and Bill Thorne formed a partnership in a company called Copeland & Thorne and sold used cars, trucks and parts. He was a member of Emerson Baptist Church. Survivors include his fiancee, Pat Spanhanks, Walters; two sons: Larry Copeland and his wife, Kathy, Oklahoma City; and James Copeland, Walters; four stepdaughters: Elicia Lizarraga, Quantico, Va.; Stephanie Simpson, Iowa Park, Texas; Judy Simpson, Walters; and Sheila HIll, Lawton; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a son, William; a grandson, John Glendel; and two sisters: Margaret and Mildred. Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N.
