Skinner, 84, Fletcher, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fletcher First Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy McFarland, pastor, and the Rev. A.L. Swagerty, Fletcher, officiating. Mr. Skinner died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at his home. Burial with military honors will be at Fletcher Cemetery under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. He was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Cedar Grove Community east of Fletcher, to Ed Skinner and Ora Sikes Skinner. He graduated from Fletcher High School in 1935. He married June Vogel on July 3, 1939, in Fletcher. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. When he returned to Fletcher, he and Willis Hinson owned and operated the H and S Gas Company in Fletcher. He later owned and operated Skinner’s Foods grocery store in Fletcher for 13 years. He was a rural mail carrier in the Fletcher area for 15 years. He served as a volunteer fireman, and was on the Fletcher School Board for 10 years. He was a member of the Comanche County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors for 27 years, several years as chairman. He was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 43 years. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jerri Skinner, Fletcher; two daughters and sons-in-law: Jeannette and Johnny Ambrose, Fletcher, and Harriet and Jack Hite, Lawton; five grandsons: Cal Ambrose and his wife, Cindy, Fletcher; Kevin Ambrose and his wife, Debbie, Elgin; and Dave Skinner, Daniel Hite and Aaron Hite, all of Lawton; three granddaughters: Jamie Nunn and her husband, Bob, Apache; Denise Hess andher husband, Chris, of Louisville, Colo.; and Elizabeth Hite, Lawton; nine great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bell Skinner; and a brother, Jack Skinner. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Fletcher First Baptist Church, P.O.
