Moore Funeral for former Grandfield resident Glenn E. Moore, 84, Lawton, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gray Funeral Home Chapel, Grandfield, with the Rev. Bob Burch, pastor, Grandfield First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Moore died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial will be at Chattanooga Cemetery. He was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Harmon County, east of Hollis, to Jesse Ray Moore and Martha Orene Sheid Moore. At an early age, he moved with his parents to Snyder, Texas, where he attended first grade. He returned to Oklahoma with his parents in 1926, and settled on the family farm north of Grandfield. He attended the one-room Rich Valley School, until he was promoted to the ninth grade in the Chattanooga Public Schools. He graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1935, and attended Southwestern University in Weatherford. After farming with his father a short time, he enlisted in the Army at Fort Sill at the beginning of World Ward II. He was sent to Fort Campbell, Ky., for basic training, and then stationed at LaHarve, France, with the Quartermaster Co.A.1st Platoon until the end of the war. After returning to Fort Hood, Texas, he married Jewel Neal on Aug. 17, 1945, in Wichita, Kan. After his discharge, he returned to the family farm where he and his wife lived for many years before moving to Grandfield. He also worked a short time for Page Aircraft at Lawton-Fort Sill. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Steve Moore, Midland, Texas; two granddaughters: Donnell Singleton and her husband, Richard, Dallas; and Denise Walker, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters: Margi Davis, Tarzana, Calif.; and Martha Ann Humble Scott, Lawton; and special friends: Ronnie and Lance Butemeyer; Lawton, and Drs. Denise and Steve Travis, Guthrie. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sondra Sue Crawford; and a baby sister, Virginia Ray Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grandfield Senior Citizens Center, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
