Lawson, Well Known Business Man Succumbs.-- A.R. Lawson, 58 years old, died at his home here about 9 o'clock Tuesday night. Mr. Lawson had been ill abut two months and for the past ten days his condition became such that little home was had for his recovery. Funeral services are to be held in the chapel of Pitcher's funeral home at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, it is announced. Mr. Lawson has been a resident of this part of the state since the country opened for settlement. He owned a farm near Alfalfa which he operated for a number of years. For a time he was in the mercantile business in Alfalfa, but most of his business activities have been in the real estate and insurance business, maintaining offices at Hinton and Mountain View at different times and finally locating her about fifteen years ago where he has since made his home. It was while he was attending to his real estate and insurance business he gained his wide acquaintance in this and neighboring counties. He was married to Miss Minnie Pitcher November 8, 1914. Six years ago he and J.H. Gabbard established the Lawson & Gabbard second hand business which is located on East Main where he has been actively engaged until his illness began about two months ago. ========== Carnegie Herald, Wed, Feb, 6, 1929 A. Richard Lawson was born in 1870 in Hunt county, Texas, where he resided with his parents until 1901 when he settled on a farm near Hinton, OK. A few years later he came to this part of the country and has resided in Carnegie since 1911. He was married to Miss Minnie Pitcher November 18, 1914. He was converted and joined the Methodist church February 27, 1927, and continued a faithful member as long as his health permitted. He was stricken with his fatal illness on December 29 and passed away January 29, at 9 p.m. He leaves a wife, brother, aunt and neice and other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Minnie Lawson died in 1957 but I do not have the newspapers for that year here at the library. If you want this obituary let me know and I can go to the newspaper office and look it up. But I will have to go through the entire year since I don't have a day or month. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.org/ok/caddo/caddo.html
