It seems that Mrs. Boren had been doing the family washing, and was removing a large iron kettle from the stove, containing boiling water, when the kettle slipped from her hand, or partly to, spilling the water. Her son was playing on the floor and had toddled up close to the mother, and the scalding water splashed over the infant. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. M. Boren, grandparents of the baby, happened to be visiting at the time, and every assistance was rendered the mother in caring for the child, while physicians were rushed from this city, but the child passed away about twenty-four hours later. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon with interment in the Sayre cemetery. While this accident was a severe shock to all, Mrs. C. M. Boren, the grandmother has been confined to her bed from nervous prostration. The people of this entire section will extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved parents and relatives.
