All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MOODY, MARY (27 Feb 1907, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Robert Moody, mother of Mrs. E. K. Thurmond, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, at her home in Kansas City. Mrs. Mary Moody, the wife of Robert Moody, died at the family residence, 3301 Highland avenue, at 6 o'clock this morning after an illness of two years. Mrs. Moody was the daughter of W. P. Allen, one of the early settlers of Kansas City. She was born in Shelbyville, Ky., December 12, 1840, and came to this city with her parents in 1857. Mr. Allen purchased a farming adjoining the Porter estate, where he resided for many years. The old farmhouse, not altered much in appearance, stands almost on the spot where it was built, which is now near Twenty-ninth street and Flora avenue. In this house Mr. and Mrs. Moody were married April 2, 1868. Mr. Moody has been for many years one of the leading cattlemen of the Southwest, with ranches in Colorado and Texas. He is also president of banks at Canadian, Higgins, Miami, and Glazier, Tex., and Woodward and Shattuck, Okla. The children who survive Mrs. Moody are Allen Moody, Shattuck, Ok.; Thomas F. Moody, Canadian, Tex.; Mrs. D. J. Young, Canadian, Tex.; Mrs. John J. Gerlach, Woodward, Ok.; Mrs. E. K. Thurmond, Sayre, Ok.; and Miss Eva Moody. A sister of Mrs. Moody, Mrs. Lizzie Cousins, is living in St. Louis.
