C. Henson, died at Altus, Oklahoma, August 11, Friday, of typhoid fever and his remains were buried Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Doxey cemetery. Rev. McConnell of the Sayre M. E. Church preached the funeral sermon. John Henson was born August 15, 1890, and lacked only five days being 21 years of age at the time of his death. The heartfelt sympathy of the citizens of Sayre goes out to the bereaved mother and sisters of the deceased. (18 Aug 1911, Friday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): John Henson, who was reared near Doxey, this county, died at Altus, Okla., Friday, Aug. 11th, of typhoid fever and was laid to rest in Doxey Cemetery Saturday afternoon. He leaves a mother, two brothers, four sisters and a large circle of friends to mourn his death. Deceased lacked 5 days being 21 years of age, was a member of the M. E. Church S. and an exemplary young man. Services were conducted by the Rev. J. E. McConnell at the grove on the farm of Mack Beeson, Mrs. McConnell leading in the singing. A large gathering was present to pay their last respects to the departed including a number from Sayre. The Headlight extends its sympathy to the bereaved family in their affliction. (18 Aug 1911, Friday, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): John Henson, 21 year old, who lived with his sister at Altus, Oklahoma, died last Friday of Typhoid fever. His remains were shipped to Carter and a large procession followed them to Doxey Cemetery where they were laid to rest in their family graveyard, after the funeral services, were held at the home of Mack Beeson's. He was employed at a wholesale grocery house when he took sick. He leaves two brothers, J. L. Henson, who resides in California and K. T. Henson of Carter, also four sisters, Mrs. Margerette Gafford, Tyler, Texas; Mrs. Ama McDonald, Altus, Okla., and Misses Grace and Lila Henson and his mother who resides at Sayre, to mourn his untimely demise. He was a good boy and had many friends who join the Express in sympathizing with the bereft.
