   Austin Thompson
   Austin Thompson, 88, died Friday, June 25, 1999.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum
   with Bud Couch, First Baptist Church of Silverton, officiating.
   Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St.
   
   Mr. Thompson was born in Graham and moved to Amarillo in 1953 from Elk
   City, Okla. He was retired from Lee Way Motor Freight, worked for
   Hawbaker Auction and managed Beverly Towers Apartments. He was a
   school crossing guard for Lamar School and was recently featured in an
   article published by the school.
   
   He married Grace Fern Thompson in 1929 at Elk City. She died in 1993.
   
   Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Couch, of Lubbock; a sister,
   Opal Jackson of Clovis; two grandchildren; and two
   great-grandchildren.
   
   The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of Lubbock.
