The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org/ *********************************************************************** *Note* HANKINS,Robert A. b.1872 d.7 Feb 1953 buried Carter Cemetery *Carter,Beckham Co.,Ok., ************************************************************ Elk City Resident Dies Here Following Stroke * R.A.HANKINS,long-time Elk City resident,died in a local hospital Saturday afternoon after suffering a stroke several days ago.Arrangements are pending and will be made by Savage.He was a member of the Methodist church. ******RITES SET TUESDAY FOR R.A.HANKINS ***Services for Robert A.HANKINS,81-year-old retired farmer,will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church.HANKINS died here Saturday .He is survived by his wife,of the home,806 North Washington;a son,Cecil,Wichita,Kan.;four daughters,Mrs.Mary THOMAS,Carter;Mrs.Flora GLASGOW,Santa Anna,Calif.;Mrs.Lloyd ADAMS,Amarillo,and Mrs.F.D.WILSON;Taft,Calif.;three sisters,Mrs.Lula GREGGSBY,Dallas;Mrs.Roy COE,Seymour,Texas,and Mrs.Joe FERGUSON,Cleburne,Texas;two brothers,George of Bethany,and Cleve of Holdenville,10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.Born in Texas,he homesteaded here in 1900 and moved to Elk City when he retired.He was a member of the Methodist church.Rev.Cecil COOVER will officiate and burial will be at Carter with Savage in charge. *************************************************************Mr.and Mrs.Lloyd Adams of Amarillo,Mrs.Mary THOMAS of Carter and Mr.and Mrs.R.C.HANKINS of Wichita,have been here during the past week at the bedside of R.A.HANKINS,806 North Washington.The elder Mr.HANKINS suffered a stroke recently but is reported to be improved.Mr.and Mrs.ADAMS and Mrs.THOMAS have returned to their homes and the R.C.HANKIN'S remained for a longer visit.
