MARTIN, SAMUEL JOSHUA
(14 Mar 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Samuel Joshua Martin.
Samuel Joshua Martin was born May 2, 1860.  He died at his home in Elk
City March 11, 1929, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 9 days. 
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Tuesday, March 12,
at 2:30 p.m. Rev. H. L. James of Hobart, officiated.  Interment was made
in Fairlawn Cemetery, Gentry Killough, directors, were in charge of
arrangements.
(15 Mar 1929, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
J. C. MacKenzie and family were called to Elk City Monday on account to
the death of Mrs. MacKenzie's father, S. J. Martin, which occurred Sunday
night.  The funeral took place there Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist
church.  Mr. Martin died after an extended period of suffering.  The
MacKenzie family has a host of friends who join The Express in profound
sympathy in their bereavement.
A large number of friends from Carter, including practically the entire
membership of the Methodist Missionary society and the pastor, attended
the funeral service.
