(22 May 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mary B. Hays was born in Pike county Indiana, September 17, 1852; and passed away at Elk City, Okla., May 13, 1925. She was 72 years, 8 months and 4 days old. Her childhood was spent in Indiana, where she was converted at the age of eleven years. She lived in Kansas four years and spent thirty years of her life with her husband and family in Foss, Okla. She was married to Ezekiel S. Hadlock, May 26, 1889, who preceded her in death, by three years. After her husband's death Mrs. Hadlock had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. R. M. Brenneman whose residence is on West 7th Street of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Hadlock had reared eight children, all are living and all but two were present at their mother's funeral. Mrs. D. B. Johnson of Tulsa and Mrs. Emma Chapman of Albany, Oklahoma, were not there. Mrs. Hadlock broke her hip four years ago and never fully recovered from it; that, together with the general weakened condition she was in was the cause of her death. Mrs. Hadlock's entire life was one of a Christian, she was loved by all who knew her for she made friends wherever she went; she was the oldest member of the Foss Eastern Star chapter, also was an honorary member, of same. Her wide circle of friends will miss her a great deal. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church, Thursday, May 14th, at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Tracy officiating. Interment was made at the Foss cemetery. She was buried beside her husband. CARD OF THANKS We wish to extend to our dear friends and neighbors a great deal of appreciation for their assistance during the illness and death of our loved mother. We also appreciate the beautiful floral offerings. Signed: Lee E. Payne Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Brenneman Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Gale Mr. and Mrs. A. Hadlock Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
