JOHN CLIFFORD CHAPMAN Funeral services for John CHAPMAN will be conducted 3 p.m., Wednesday from the United Methodist Church of Hammon with Rev. Jack ATKINSON and Rev. Andy TAYLOR officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. John Clifford CHAPMAN was born October 23, 1907 in Manitou to Louis Edward and Nettie (MALES) CHAPMAN and died Monday at the age of 90. He moved about with his family and at the age of 16 came to the Herring Community where he worked for the Herring Ranch most of his life. He was married to Pearl MONTGOMERY on September 17, 1927 in Elk City. In 1961, John and his son Louis leased the Herring Ranch where they operated the ranch and acquired a portion of the ranch in 1965 where John worked until some 10 years ago. John was a past member of the school board of the Herring School, a charter member of the Hammon Round Up Club, board member of the Roger Mills Farmers Home Administration and worked in various capacities at his church in Hammon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Pearl of the home; three children, Betty PARKS and her husband, Junior of Sayre, Louis CHAPMAN and his wife, Marlene, of Cheyenne and Joan WOOD and her husband, Lewis of Rocky; nine grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
