A ten-year-old son of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Wise, who live on the Yeagle farm near Bakertown, was fatally burned about 6:30 Monday evening and died a few hours later at Memo- rial hospital where he was taken by Dr. E. W. Baker. The mother also had her arms severly burned when she caught the child and rushed out of doors, and a baby sister was slightly burned on the chin. The accident happened when "Junior," as the little fellow was called, poured coaloil from a can onto a fire which he had just lighted in the cookstove. The flames fol- lowed into the can, which exploded and threw the burning fluid all over the child and set fire to the house. More than 50 per cent, of the lad's body was burned to a crisp. Mr. Wise was at home at the time and succeeded in putting out the fire, so that the house was not much damaged, which was most fortunate, as a strong gale was blowing at the time. The Wise family has lived on the place for the past year, coming here from Bellevue. Mrs. Wise was formerly Miss Jones of Colby. Undertaker F. E. Harris & Son of Bellevue took the body to their mortuary Tuesday morning to pre- pare it for burial. The funeral will be held at the residence this after- noon, at 2 o'clock, with burial at York Free Chapel. ----
