A page 462 Baltis Van Kleeck Will: In the name of God amen the twenty fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and Ninety four, I Baltis V. Kleeck of the Township of Poughkeepsie in the county of Dutchess & State of New York being somewhat week in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same and calling to mind the certainty of Death and the uncertain thereof do make and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following. First and principally I recommend my precious and immortal Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me hoping for pardon and remission of all my Sins through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Savior and redeemer and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Wife & Executors herein after named. And as to such worldy Estate wherein it hath pleased God to bless me I give devise and dispose of in manner and form following Imprimus I will that all my just debts and funeral charges be well and truly paid and ratified within some convenient time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Rodee V. Kleeck my farm and all the building thereon until my youngest son Leonard V. Kleeck is fourteen years of age with a proviso she remains my Widow so long I give and bequeath to my son Peter B. V.Kleeck the sum of twenty pounds to him his heirs and assigns forever, I give and bequeath to my son Isaac V. Kleeck the sum of twenty pounds a year as long as he lives for his maintenace. I give and bequeath unto my wife Rode and to Sarah Kip the wife of Jacob Kipp, Catherine Lester, Elizabeth Beauz the wife of Thomas Beauz ( Baguex) Jozincha Cabel the wife of Denbo Cabels, Leonard V. Kleeck, Margaret V. Kleeck all the remainder of my Estate to be equally divided amongst them but that my daughter Sarah Kipp and Elizabeth Beauz to have no more than the Interest of their Legacy as long as they live and after their death to be the legacy equally divided amongst their children. It is also my will that no Legacy be paid to any until that my son Leonard is fourteen years of age and that my Son Leonard and daughter Margaret be supported out of my Estate until my son Leonard arrives to the age of fourteen. And Lastly I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my beloved wife Rode V. Kleeck, Ahasurrus Elsworth and Jacob Smith Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me at anytime heretofore made declaring this only to be my last will and testament. In Witness whereof IO have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year first above written Baltis V. Kleeck ( his name hand written) Signed sealed and delivered by the said Baltis V. Kleeck as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and sealing thereof Isaac Hotchkiss, William Loader, Daniel Hotchkiss Dutchess County, JS On the eighteenth day of September one thousand seven hundred and ninety four personally appeared before me Gilbert Livingston Surrogate of the said county Isaac Hotchkiss of Dutchess county mason who on Oath declared that he did see Baltis Van Kleeck sign and seal the preceeding written instrument purporting to be the will of the said Baltis van Kleeck bearing date the twenty fourth day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety four and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament. That at the time thereof he the said Baltis Van Kleeck was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that William Loader and Daniel Hotchkiss with the deponent severally subscribed the said will as witnesses thereto in the testators presence “Daniel” wrote on an erased places, Gilbert Livingston ( L.S.) The People of the State of New York by the Grace of God free and Independent To all to whom these Presents shall come or may concern, Send Greetings Know Ye That at Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County on the eighteenth day of September one thousand seven hundred and ninety four before Gilbert Livingston, Esq. Surrogate of our said county the last will and testament of Baltis Van Kleeck deceased ( a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the Time of his Death, Goods, Chattels or credits within this State by Means whereof the proving and registering the said will and the Granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us: the Administration of all and Singular the Goods Chattles and credits of the said deceased and any Way concerning his Will is granted unto Ahajuerius Ellsworth and Rode Van Kleeck two of the Executors in the said will named they being first duly sworn will and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods, Chattels and credits and also to render a just and true account thereunto required, In Testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of the Office of our said Surrogate to be here unto affixed Witness Gilbert Livingston Esquire, Surrogate of the Said County at Poughkeepsie the second day of June in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and ninety five and?
