She was the beloved wife of Harold M. Aldrich, who died in 1987. She was born in Newburyport, Mass., on Jan. 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Teague) Fowle. She previously lived in Newbury and Amesbury, Mass., and Northwood, N.H. A graduate of the Newburyport High School, Class of 1944, Jinny worked most of her life in antiques and decorating, after an early, successful career in dance instruction. Jinny was also an accomplished painter, creating many stunning oil paintings of her New England life. She loved playing the piano with her daughters and grandchildren, and she adored cats. She enjoyed her summer home on Long Island, Maine, with many friends and family for more than 30 years. Many people will remember her from her shop, Country Lane Antiques, in Northwood. She and her husband were active members of St. Paul's Church in Newburyport, Mass., for many years. She is survived by three children, Brian Aldrich and his wife, Valerie, of Alameda, Calif., Melissa Aldrich of Lewes, Del., and Sarah Shattuck and her husband, Tracy, of Portsmouth; three brothers, Barry Fowle of Stafford Springs, Va., Ronald Fowle of Stockton Springs, Maine, and Alan Fowle of Belmont; and four grandchildren Ashley and Eric Aldrich of Alameda, Calif., and Kaitlynn and Maeve Shattuck of Portsmouth. ALDRICH - Virginia Fowle Aldrich, 74, of Webster at Rye nursing Home, Rye, died Feb. 13, 2001. Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, 287 High St., Newburyport, Mass.
