He was born in Weymouth, Mass., May 17, 1923, the son of Edward and Frances May (Wright) Drown. He was raised in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and resided several years in Braintree, Mass., before moving here 15 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and was a member of the National Organization of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was employed by the John Hancock Insurance Co. in Boston for 40 years. He began as a stock boy out of high school and retired as office manager in 1980. He enjoyed playing the piano. He played in the restaurant of the former Lucas's Greenhouse in Hampton Falls in 1989 and 1990. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Betty Drown and Ruth Markham. Family members include his wife, Edna A. Drown of Kensington; his brother-in-law, Bud Markham of Newnan, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. DROWN - Stanley E. Drown of Kensington died Feb. 13, 2001. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook.
