               Will of Griffin Lewis - 1788

In the Name of God Amen, I Griffin Lewis of Wayne County & State of 
North Carolina being of Sound & Perfect mind and Memory Blessed be god
for the Same do this 12th day of March in the year of Our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Eight, make and Publish this my Last
Will and Testament, in manner following that is to Say 

First  I give up sole to almighty god who gaveth it

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my Son in law Hopkin Howell one bed
furniture, Two Pewter plates, one Chest, one Pewter dish, Two Chaires,

Item, I give Unto my Son in Law William Ellis, one Bed and furniture, 
Two Chares, one Iron Pott, One Chisl, 1 Linnon Wheel

Item, I give unto my Gran Daughter Prissillah Watsen, one bed and 
furniture, one chest, one Table, one Wooling Wheel, and all the 
Remainder of my Estate

It is my Will and Desire to be sold at Public Sale and all my Justs
Debts to be paid, and it is is my Will and Desire that my Grand
Daughter, Prissillah Watsen, shall have and receive all over 
that of the money arising from Such Sale together with my Land &
Plantation Lying and being in Northampton County

And I do By Their Presents make and Ordain my Friends, Benjamin Exum,
and James Handley my whole Ezrs of this my Last Will and Testament and
Witness Whereof The Said Griffin Lewis Have Herunto Sett his hand
and Seal this Day and date as above written
