Wayne County, NC - Will of Richard W. Best, 1910 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ North Carolina Wayne County I RICHARD W. BEST, being of sound mind, do here make and declare the following to be my will and testament. ITEM 1 I give to my Grandson THOMAS R. BEST, all my provisions, livestock and all other personal property not hereinafter otherwise bequeathed. ITEM 2 I give & bequeath to my daughters NANNIE & BEULAH BEST all my household & Kitchen furniture, except one bed, the one I sleep on, which I hereby give to my said grandson, THOMAS BEST. ITEM 3 I give to CHARLEY BEST, my son, all my farming implements and all my fowls. ITEM 4 I desire that J.R. BEST, the father of the said THOMAS R. BEST, shall take possession of all property herein given to the said THOMAS R. BEST, & dispose of the same to the best advantage for THOMAS R. BEST. ITEM I hereby appoint the said J.R. BEST & J.W. BRITT May 4, 1906 I hereby add a codicil to the foregoing will as follows: I change Item 1- to read as follows My daughter NANNIE BEST shall have one third of the amount arising from the sale of the personal property named therein and the share of said THOMAS R. BEST from such sale shall deposited the Goldsboro Savings Bank until he is twenty one years old, but if the said ANNIE (should be NANNIE) BEST should marry before such sale & division, the whole of said money from the sale shall go to THOS. WASHINGTON I hereby add the following codicil to my will, attached hereto: I give and bequeath all my personal property to NANNIE SUSAN BEST, and I desire that one hundred dollars shall be deposited in the Bank of Wayne Savings department for my grand son THOMAS R. BEST to be paid to him when he becomes twenty one years of age, and in case of his prior death, the money shall be paid to my said daughter NANNIE S. And I bequeath to my grandson CHESTER BEST twenty five dollars, to be deposited in said Bank until he becomes of age, and if he dies prior thereto, to go to the said NANNIE SUSAN.
