Wayne County, NC - Deeds - John & Sally Cobb to Newman Potts - 1871 Register of Deeds Office Wayne County Goldsboro, NC Wittnessed that the said Jno P Cobb & wife Sally E Cobb in consideration of Four hundred dollars paid and six hundred dollars to be paid in addishon to the above amount to be applied towards Satisfying a certain morgage given by the Said Jno P Cobb & wife Sally E Cobb to Marshall & Hood of Champaigin County Ohio for two thousand dollars for themselves & their heirs do hearby Bargain Sell & Convey to said Newman Pots & his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land in Wayne County North Carolina being on South Side of Neuse River & adjoining the lands of Wright Casey, Fred Patrick & others. Beginning at a Pine on the River Bank being a corner between Waitmon Thompson & said Cobb thence So 65 W 100 poles to an oak down So 27 E 82 poles to a Holly, So E west 26 poles to a stake So 70 W 60 poles to a ditch then So 41 ½ W 101 poles to head of ditch South 17 E 28 poles to Mill dam So 41 ½ W 150 poles to a stake then So 27 E 106 poles to a stake in Peters Branch So 66 W 123 poles to a stake So 72 E 83 ½ poles to a Forked pine East 131 ½ poles to H Whitfield corner North 13 E 180 poles to a stake N 13 E 42 poles to a stake no 12 E 108 poles to a stake So 28 E 73 poles So 65 E 42 poles N 25 E 80 poles to a stake So 26 E 200 poles So 87 W 22 poles to arigaton hole then down Mash gut to Nuse River thence up Nuse River to the place of Beginning containing 915 acres more or less to hav and to hold said lands to the said Newman Pots & his heirs and the said Jno P Cobb & wife Sally E Cobb for themselvs & there heirs doth covenant & defend the title of said real estate to the said Newman Pots & his heirs against all claims whatever the condishon of the above deed of Conveyance are that, whereas said N Pots had already paid four hundred dollars & hereby agrees to pay Six hundred towards discharging the above mention morgage & the said Jno P Cobb Sally E Cobb being desires to secure the said Newman Pots against any loss whatever now therefore if said Newman Pots & his heirs shall pay or cares to be paid the above mentioned sums of money before the Expiration of the morgage then this deed shall become in full force & effects untill Jno P Cobb and wife Sally E Cobb & there heirs shall execute to said N Pots & his heirs a good warranted deed fore one hundred fifty acres or enough land to satisfy him for all cost & expenses at six dollars & a half per acre the said land to be cut off the plantation the upper incl & adjoining the lands of Fred Patrick & Richard Rollins otherwise this deed shall be nul & void in witness whereof we have set our hands & Seals this 11th day Jan, 1871.
