Re: John T. Kennedy Bible

A review of the John T. Kennedy Bible record of deaths appears to 
have been entered at one time rather than through a course of years 
as the events took place. It shows that "Sarah Everett Kennedy 
departed this life the 19th of April 1851". This record is incorrect 
as the following documentation taken from the Estate of John Kennedy, 
Sarah’s husband will bear out.

John Kennedy died on 4 July 1854 intestate. Sarah Kennedy, his widow, 
in the August 1854 Term of the Wayne County North Carolina court, 
filed petitions for her dower and for one-year allowance as provided 
by law. She received sixty acres plus another twenty five for timber.

16 March 1855 Sarah Kennedy remarried to Thomas J. Wilson in Wayne Co.
NC. This record can be found in the Wayne County North Carolina - 
Marriage Records - 1855.

Subpoena was issued on 17 March 1860 against John T. Kennedy and John
Everett. The complaint was styled: "Joseph E. Kennedy, William H. Hair 
& wife Anna M., Thomas W. Kennedy, William H. Davis and wife Sally E., 
Amy M. Kennedy, Richard Kennedy, James G. Kennedy, Thomas J. Wilson & 
wife Sally, and Mary J. Kennedy, an infant who sues by her next friend 
the said Joseph E. Kennedy vs. John T. Kennedy and John Everitt". In 
the complaint it states "John Kennedy left as his next of kin, his widow, 
your oratrix Sally, who has since intermarried with your orator Thomas 
J. Wilson".
