Maarbjerg In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Hoskins of the State of North Carolina and County of Tyrrel considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and Form following, Viz. First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Hoskins Three Negroes by the names of Adam, Sarah and Hannah, the sorrel mare bridle and saddle, her choice of one bed and furniture. I lend to my beloved wife Mary Hoskins, during her natural life, one half of the Plantation whereon I live to be equally divided giving her the part which is improved, also two Cows and calvs, four Ews, and two Sows and pigs all the crockery ware, six flag bottom’d chairs. I give to my four Grand Children Eliza Rombough Ann Rombough, Sarah Rombough and William Rombough Heirs of dec’d daughter Martha Rombough late wife of William Rombough of Town of Edenton two negroes Viz Jenny and Jack, them with the said Jenny’s increase to be equally divided amongst my four Grand Children when they come age of marry. I give to my Son in Law William Rombough two negroes viz Dinah & Grace which two negroes the said Rombough has sold the other given to my four Grand Children are still in his possession. I give to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Creecy four negroes Viz Cate, Sillie, Venus and James which negroes she has in possession to her, her Heirs and assigns forever. I give to my beloved Son James Hoskins four negroes Viz Darby, Sall, Annis and Dave, which negroes he now possesses, to him his Heirs and Assigns forever. Also blind Jenny and her youngest child by the name of Rose. I give to the Lawful Heirs of my beloved son Thomas Hoskins who has departed this life, the negroe Man Mingoe he having sold the others given him, them their Heirs and Assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Hardy Hoskins four negroes Viz Danniel, Jerry, Rachel and Sam, also the following lands – One tract known by the name of Iron Mine, one other Tract adjoining the land of James Dillon known by the name Sound, all in Little Alligator & also one Bed and furniture to him, his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary Murphy four negroes Viz Clae, Tomboy, Silvy and Steven which negroes she has now in possession to her, her Heirs and Assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Sarah Wynne four negroes Viz Solomon, Lucy, Grace & Merrick which negroes are now in her possession, to her, her Heirs and Assigns forever. I lend to my Son in Law Benjamin Lowry Three negroes Viz Quash,, Pleasant, and Isaac during his natural life unless my said Son in Law Should have Heirs lawfully begotten of his body, then I give the said negroes to him his heirs & assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Charles Hoskins the Plantation whereon I live with all the lands and Swamp adjoining. And I do hereby authorize my Executors to this my lasts Will, should they think it most advisable, to Sell all the Said land and Swamp in the district of Gum neck and make use of the money arising from the Sale of Said land to purchase other Land out of the said district of Gumneck for my Son Charles Hoskins, and in case my Son Charles should die before he come to lawful age or marry, my Will is that his Land be sold and equally divided amongst James Hoskins, Hardy Hoskins, & Ann Hoskins or the survivor should any die. And I hereby authorize my Executors to make sale of the following negroes Viz Old Tim & Venus his wife, old Darby and Cate his Wife, should the sale of the perishable part of my Estate and Land not mentioned be found insufficient to discharge all my just debts, which I desire to be punctually paid, and should there be any money remaining that arises from the sale of the above mentioned Negroes after paying all my just debts I leave it to my daughter Ann Hoskins. I give and bequeath to my Son Charles Hoskins and my daughter Ann Hoskins all the residue of my Estate real and personal to be equally divided between t hem when they come to lawful age or marry. And I hereby constitute and appoint my three Sons James Hoskins Hardy Hoskins and Charles Hoskins my whole and sole Executors, Acknowledging this to be my last Will and Testament revoking all others by me made.
