William H Barnes Final Rites Held

   Fairmont, Jan. 9.---- Funeral services for William H. Barnes, 73, well-known 
citizen of Fairmont, were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. from the Stephens-Prevatte 
funeral home.  His pastor, Rev. Ben F. Boone of Trinity Methodist church, 
officiated.  Interment was made in the Fairmont Cemetery. Mr. Barnes died at 
Thompson Memorial hospital in Lumberton, where he had been taken on Saturday 
following a heart attack at the home of his son and daughter in-law Mr. and 
Mrs. Roscoe Barnes, with whom he had made his home for the past 8 years.
   Pallbearers were: Durham Mitchell, Robert Floyd, M. L. Oliver, Grover 
Hardin, Dayton Hardin, Bradley Sellers. Flowerbearers were ladies from Trinity 
and Bethesda Methodist churches.
   Surviving are 5 sons, Roscoe and Edgar of Fairmont, Curtis and Raymond of 
Barnesville, Silas of Red Springs; 3 daughters, Mrs. Gurney Horn of Fairmont.  
Mrs. Worth Ivey of Marietta,  Mrs. Ellie Rowell of Lake View.

From the contributor: William H. Barnes was born Aug 1872 and died Jan 6, 1946.
He was the son English Barnes and Elva Haynes.
William H. Barnes married Elmira Lamb in 1891. She was born Apr 19, 1975 and 
died Jan 28, 1938.
