Robeson County, NC - Benjamin Lovett & wife to Reuben Lovett - 1888 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Benjamin Lovett & wife State of North Carolina to Robeson County Reuben Lovett This Indenture made this 22nd day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight between Benjamin Lovett and wife Molsey Lovett of the County of Robeson and the State of North Carolina of the first part and Reuben Lovett of the County of Robeson and the State of North Carolina of the second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred Dollars in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold aliened and conferred and by these presents does give grant bargain and sell alien and confer unto the said party of the second parts and to his heirs and assigns forever all that certain tract piece parcel or lot of land situated lying and being in the County of Robeson and State of NC bounded and described as follows to wit: Lying on both sides of the Ten Mile Swamp, beginning at a pine on the South West Side said Ten Mile Swamp, the beginning corner of the Jesse Leggett 300 acre survey and runs as that line North 30 deg. West about 55 chains to a stake in said line, William Lovett's corner, then on Mary Cox's line North 53 East five chains and 75 links (5.75) to a stake at the South edge of said swamp, then up the various courses of said swamp to Pope's line, then as his line South 60 deg. East to a pine on the East side of said swamp, then as Pope's other line until it intersects with the line of the original convey, then as that line South 30 East to a stake the 4th corner of the original survey, then South 70 West 35 chains to the beginning containing 200 acres or the same more or less. It being a part of the 300 acre survey sold by Thomas J. Curtis to Jesse Leggett and by him to said Benjamin Lovett together with all and singular the lands tenements and appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and rents issues and profits of the aforesaid lands and premises and every part there of and all the estate right xxxxxx interest xxxxx property and demand whatsoever of the aforesaid lands and premises and every part thereof of the said parties of the first part of in and to the lands and premises are hereby granted. To have and hold the above granted and described premises xxxxxxx the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to their own profits use and behoof forever. And the said parties of the first part for them selves and their heirs executors and administrators covenant promise and agree to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that they are lawfully seized in fee of the above granted and described premises. That they have good right to sell and convey same. That it is free from all encumbrances and that they will and their heirs executors and administrators shall warrant and defend the same against the lawful claims and demands of any and all person or persons whatsoever. In Testimony where of the said parties of the first have hereunder set there hands and affixed their seals the day and year above written. Thompson Justice of Robeson County the Peace do hereby certify Benjamin (x) Lovette Molsey Lovett his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the within deed of conveyance and the said Molsey Lovett being by me personally examined separate and apart from her said husband and touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntary without fear or compulsion of her husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
