Benjamin Lee to Joshua Herring
This indenture made this 29th day of December in year of our Lord 1817 
between Benjamin Lee of the county of Robeson, State of North Carolina 
of the one part and Joshua Herring of the same county and state 
aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Lee for 
and in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars by said Joshua Herring 
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt and 
payment whereof is hearby acknowledged to be fully satisfied and 
contented therewith. The said Benjamin Lee hath given granted and sold 
and by these presents doth give grant and sell unto Johsua Herring his 
heirs assigns forever one hundred acres of land lying in the county and 
state aforesaid beginning on Inman’s branch at a pine tree and runs n70 
E 10 chains and 75 links to Edward Flowers corner a popular tree the 
with Flowers line N 38 E, 22 chains to a pine then N 20 East 21 chains 
to a stake then S 24 chains to a stake thence direct to the beginning 
to have and hold the said 100 acres of land with all the premises and 
appurtenances thereunto belonging to said Joshua Herring his heirs and 
assigns forever, free from myself my heirs, executors and 
administrators and assigns or from any other person or persons claiming 
under or by my title. In testimony where of I do hereunto set my hand 
and seal the day and date before mentioned.

Robeson County Feb. Term (year left vacant) this deed was proven in 
open court by oath of Michael Herring and ordered to be registered.
