To all whom these presents shall come I Absalom Williams of the county 
of Robeson send greetings Know ye that I sd Absalom Williams for and in 
consideration of the natural love and affection that I have and bare 
unto my beloved son in law William Herring of Robeson and for divers 
other good causes and considerations in hereunto have given granted and 
by these presents do give and grant unto William Herring a certain 
negro woman named Catheron (sh    ) Named there names as follows Chany 
and Tanney, Leacy (                     ) Patty to have and hold and 
enjoy all and singular the (---------------------) or unto the sd 
William Herring his heirs executors (_____ _____  ______) Page 312. 
administrators and assigns forever the aforesaid negroes to the William 
Herring his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever in 
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of 
November 1812.
Test: Charity Williams and Giles Williams signed by his mark Absalom X 
Williams
This deed was proved in open court by oath of Giles Williams and 
ordered to be registered J.M. Queen DC

The corner of page 311 had evidently been torn off as what copied on 
that corner is part of a land deed with chain measurements given.
