Beginning at a forked pine formerly Guess Corner running from thence South thirty seven degrees East Nine chains & ninety links to a pine a corner of the part sold to Samuel Forsyth thence with his line 88 degrees East fifteen & a half chains to a post oak and an ? on the side of a Road thence North fifty three degrees East thirty four chains to a post oak thence East four and a half chains to a Stake on the County line Thence along the same North Forty five chains & Eight three links to a Black Oak thence west Fifty chains & ten links to a pine stump Elisha Umsteds corner Thence South Fifty Eight chains to the beginning containing Three hundred & one acres 4/5 more or less and also all the woods ways, waters and water courses & all and every other appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion & reversions remainders & remainders rents issues & profits of the aforesaid lands & premises and every part thereof and all the Estate right title and interest claim property and demand whatsoever of the said Washington Laws of in and to the lands and premises hereby granted to have & to hold the aforesaid lands and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Joseph Woods his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Joseph Woods his heirs and assigns forever and the said Washington Laws for himself & his heirs the aforesaid land and premises and every part thereof against himself & his heirs and against the claim or claims of all and every other persons or persons whatsoever to the said Joseph Woods his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents - In Witness whereof the said Washington Laws hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date above written sealed and delivered In the presence of Wm Lipscomb Washington Laws (seal) G R Laws Orange County Court Nov Term 1857 The Execution of the foregoing Deed was duly proved in Open Court by the oath of William Lipscomb one of the subscribing Witnesses thereto & ordered to be Registered Test J Allison CCC
