This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Fran Henderson fhenderson@ec.rr.com ==================================================================== In the name of GoD Amen; I Alexander Henderson, being Some what unwell, but of Sound disposing mind & memory, and calling to mind the certainty of death, hath thought proper to publish this as my last will & testament in the following form (Vizt) first of all I recommend my Soul to the GoD of heaven who gave it, my body to its mother dust to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner. next I wish all my just debts to be paid out of my Estate. - - - I lend unto my beloved wife Elizabeth during her widowhood a negro Woman Rachel & her child Phillis, one other child of hers named Handy, one other child of hers named Harriet; - One negro fellow Frank, two Feather Beds & furniture, One Horse called Brocket, Ten Barrels of Corn, two plows & gear and one Cow & Calf. I give to my Son Thomas One negro Woman Polly, One negro Boy Isaac, One negro girl Leah which negroes he has now is his possession I give unto my Son Lewis One negro Woman Biner and her Child Eliza, One negro Girl Caroline & One negro Boy by the name of Edmund. I give unto my Son Lawrence negro Woman Ann Jane & her child Martha, one negro Boy Herold, & Boy Henry & Amos - - - I also give my Son Lawrence negro girl Mary in Case there Should be property not herein given away Sufficient to pay my just debts that is not herin disposed of; But Should there not be a Sufficiency of property I leave her to be sold, and in Case should be any remaining Balance of her Value after paying my debts I leave that Balance to my Son Lawrence I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Cox One hundred acres of Land ajoining the Lands of Buckner Howse & to be so laid off as to include the Buildings where Rich'd Grayer now lives; I also give her Ten Dollars to be paid Out of my Estate. I lend unto my beloved wife Elizabeth One third part of my planation, her third part to include the buildings, with the priviledge of ---dings Hogs upon my Out Land & getting Rail Timber [Lumber?] & fire wood, this Loan is during her natural life, - - - And in Consideration of the property herein loaned to my beloved wife it is my request that She raise my Son Lawrence Free from Charge The remainder of my Lands I wish to be equally divided between my three Sons Thomas, Lewis, & Lawrence. It is further my will, that my Executor which I shall hereafter appoint, Sell at a credit of Six months all property of my estate not here in disposed of, apply the proceeds to the payment of my debts, and should there be a remainder I leave it to be equally divided amongst my three Sons, Thomas, Lewis & Lawrence.
