This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole bcole5@ec.rr.com ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: Isaac Jarrot Senior, in the county of Onslow & State of North Carolina, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, calling unto mind the mortality of mankind & knowing that God has appointed for all men once to die, but liking this to be my last will & testament in the manner following: First, my body to the dust to be buried in Christian manner at the discretion of my executors, as touching my worldly affairs, my will is to dispose of it in the following manner (viz.): ITEM: I give & bequeath to my daughter Ruthey Ellis the following negros, (viz.): Mingo, Rose, Chaney & Cresey, Dave & Hardy, according to the division equally that has been heretofore, to her & her heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my daughter Esther Howard the following Negroes, (viz.): Jack, Ben, Betty and Hanner, according to division equally to already made to her & her heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Jarrot Junior, the following Negroes, (viz.): Dick, Sarah, Ede & Amey & Toney & all the money got for Negro Sam on interest & I will and devise my land and plantation on Hicks Run, I give to my son, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: All the residue of my estate not before mentioned in this my last will to be equally divided between my three children at my death, theirs & theirs alike equal. ITEM: Lastly, I do constitute and nominate & appoint my son Isaac Jarrot & my friend James Foy Senior my true & lawfull executors to this my last will and testament, ratifying this and (no) other to be my last will and testament, whereunto for the faithfull performents, I have here unto set my hand and seal this 17th day of April 1802.
