After recommending my soul to God, my will and desire is that my property shall be disposed of in the following manner: My body to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my executor and all my just debts paid. ITEM: I lend unto my beloved wife Nancy Fields, during her widowhood, two Negroes (namely) Pleasant & Kitt, my riding mare, bridle & saddle, two cows & calves and all of my household and kitchen furniture except one bedstead and furniture. I also lend aforesaid to my wife all the lands, tenements, sitree (?) whereon I now live & shall hereafter bequeath to my son Moses Judge Fields. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Council Fields (Note: missing section - noted as "torn off") Or parcel of lands lying in said County on the south side of Whittock River Josiah Smith & the plantation Beginning at said river in the mouth of a drain or swamp that makes up between two points of high land called Piny Point & Cupies Island, running up and with the same southwardly to three large short strawed pines, standing in or above the head of said swamp or dreane by the upper corner of Joseph Callowey's Owldfield, running thence south thirty-seven east one hundred and eighteen poles to a small white oak by the side of the main road, thence south twenty- eight east sixty poles, thence south thirty-two and a half east one hundred and forty-five poles to a gum my corner standing in the edge of the pecoson, on the west side of Josiah Smith plantation opposite his house, thence with said Smith's line north one west one hundred and thirty-five poles to a water oak my own & Caleb Smith's corner standing in Maides pond thence with said Smith's line to the river, thence up & with the river to the beginning including all the lands, tenements & setra within said lines. Also, I give and bequeath unto my son Council one negroe named Oris and one half of Negro man named Charles after the death of my mother, Rebekah Fields, to him the said Council, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachel Smith all the lands, tenements & setree, which I now own below the fork branch joining Frankes, lands on the south side of said Whittock River as will appear by the title papers. Also, I give and bequeath to my said daughter Rachel one Negro woman named Diana, also a sorrel horse called Ball, one bedstead & furniture and one chest, to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Moses Judges Fields all & singular lands, tenements & setre lying on the south side of the said Whittock River that lies above the upper line of the lands which I have given to my son Council as before described including the plantation whereon I now live, only reserving the term of my wife's widowhood to her and for her use. Also, I give and bequeath unto my said son Moses Judge Fields three Negro boys and Negro girls, namely, March, George Sam, and Hepsey; also Negro Pleasant and Kitt after the term of my wife's widowhood which I have already lent; also, one horse called Sweper & all of my cattle, hogs, household & kitchen furniture & plantation tools of every kind and three shotguns, except such particulars as I heretofore give away. I further charge and request my son Moses Judge to take care and support my wife during her widowhood. And I do hereby ordain, constitute and appoint my two sons Council & Moses Judge Fields my trusty & lawful executors to this my last will & testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the 17th day of May, 1816.
