I, Jacob Golden, being sound in body & mind do make this my last will & testament. If one of a younger date should not be found. First, I will my body to the tomb to be buried in a christian like manner & my soul in the hands of the Lord to be dealt with as his tender mercy directs. 1st I will that all my just debts be paid. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Cyrena Golden all the property she held when I married her also one negro man named Jim & two horses, the pick of my stock with six cows & calves, all my stock of sheep & hogs with the plantation tools, household & kitchen furniture during her natural life. ITEM I give unto my step son John F. Spicer all the land I purchased of Josiah Edwards, it being two islands in Stump Sound as per deed will show also lot (illegible) that I purchased of Samuel Webb on the main as per deed will show, with five hundred acres that I purchased of Edward Williams, known by the name of the Jenkins patent as per deed will show. Also, all the remainder of my horses & cattle not herein named if any to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give unto my stepdaughter Easther Rhodes three cows & calves. ITEM I give unto Jeremiah & Jacob G. Rhodes, sons of Durant H. Rhodes, the land on the main road where I now live which I purchased of Lewis Pollock as per deed will show with two hundred acres ajoining that I bought (of) Edward Williams as per deed will show to be equally divided betwixt them, to them, their heirs forever. ITEM I give unto Jacob G. (illegible) two cows & calves to him & his heirs forever. ITEM After my wife Cyrena’s death my will 7 desire is that John F. Spicer has my negro man Jim with all the plantation tools, horses, cattle, sheep & hogs, all the residue of my wife Cyrene’s property after her death to be equally divided betwixt John F. Spicer & Jeremiah & Jacob G. Rhodes, to them & their heirs forever. I also leave John F. Spicer & Joshua (illegible) sole executors to this my last will & testament whereunto I have set my hand & seal this 9th day of February 1829. (signed) Jacob Golden Test: John D. Corbett Test: William Bishop John F. Spicer qualified State of North Carolina, Onslow County, Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, February term 1830. Then was this will of Jacob Golden offered for probate & the execution thereof duly proved in open court by the oath of John D. Corbett, one of the subscribing witnesses and John F.
