Henderson to Durant Morton Deed January 11th, 1901 State of North Carolina, Onslow County This deed made this the 11th day od January 1901 by B.M. Henderson and wife Mary Henderson of Onslow County and State of North Carolina of the first-part to Durant Morton of Onslow County and State of North Carolina of the second part Witnesseth: That said B.M. Henderson and wife Mary Henderson in consideration of twenty five dollars to them paid by Durant Morton the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell and convey to said Durant Morton and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land in Onslow County State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Pennie Howard and others bounded as follows viz: Beginning at the Pennie Howard corner on the West side of Poplar Creek running with her line a westwardly course to a chopped Pine thence a southwardly course to a Dogwood tree about 100 yards more or less thence an Eastwardly course to the head of a Bottom thence with said Bottom back to Poplar Creek to the beginning containing by estimation about 20 acres more or less this tract of land is a portion of the Abram Lovitt land. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privledges and appurntences thereto belonging to the said Durant Morton his heirs and assignees to their only use and behalf forever and the said B.M. Henderson and wife Mary Henderson covenant with said Durant Morton and his heirs and assignees that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free and clear from all incumberances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the sam against the claims of all persons whomsoever in testimony whereof the said B.M. Henderson and wife Mary Henderson have here unto set their hands and seals the day and year above written Signed: B.M. Henderson Mary Henderson State of North Carolina, Onslow County I J.W. Burton Clerk of the Superior Court hereby certify that B.M. Henderson and Mary Henderson hi wife formally aqppeared before me on this day and aknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of conveyance; and the said Mary Henderson being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarilym, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
