MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - John Gibbs Willis, 2 Apr 2005

BAKERSVILLE - John Gibbs Willis, 81, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Brian
Center in Weaverville. He was the son of the late Hosea and Hattie Greene
Willis. He was a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran
of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Norman Willis; daughters, Peggy Bowman of
Conover, and Carolyn Hoilman and Frances Honeycutt, both of Hickory; sons,
James Norman of Newton, Ronald Willis of Marion; Douglas, Johnny and Clifford
Willis, all of Bakersville; and Larry and Donald Willis of Tennessee; 16
grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mine Creek Baptist Church.
Revs. Ronnie Gouge and Kenneth Murphy officiated. Burial was in the church
cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at
the church. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
