CARROLL BLACKWELL
MARION – Carroll Blackwell, of Old Linville Road, died Sunday, June 23, 
2002 at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 
military police in Korea. He retired from Coats American with 47 years 
of service.
Survivors include his wife, Bula Dean Stafford Blackwell; three sons, 
David Carroll Blackwell, Christopher Scott Blackwell and Darrin Jeffrey 
Blackwell, all of Marion; one sister, Carolyn Sue Byrd of Old Fort; and 
two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. David Edwards and Gary 
Capps officiated. Burial was in Yellow Mountain Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 6:30 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
