MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - MRS. C.C. SMITH, JAN 1893 Published in the Franklin Press, Jan. 18, 1893 - Vol. VII, No. 14 DEATH OF MRS. C.C. SMITH On Monday morning, Jan 2d, Mr. C.C. Smith's family consisting of his wife and babe, Leon Addington his step-son and nurse left Franklin for Caldwell, Texas, whither they went hoping to benefit Mrs. Smith, who was a sufferer of consumption. Mr. Smith accompanied them to Cornlie, Ga., and saw them safely on the train Wednesday evening, accompanied by Rev. E.L. Siler, Mrs. Smith's brother. Mr. smith returned to Franklin. The party reached Caldwell on Saturday Jany 7. On last Friday evening Mr. Smith received a telegram announcing the death of his wife about 11 o'clock Friday and asking instructions. He telegraphed to have the remains sent to Dillsboro, and for his family to return with them. A return telegram was received Saturday evening stated that they expected to reach Dillsboro Wednesday (today). Mr. Smith went over to Dillsboro yesterday, to return with the remains of his wife today. The burial will take place at the Methodist church as early as practicable after the arrival of the corpse. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
