Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to William Foakes, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 164 – 120 acres State of North Carolina No. 276 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted and paid into our Treasury by William Foakes have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said William Foakes a tract of land containing one hundred and twenty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on Juniper Swamp joining his own land Beginning at his own corner on the Juniper Swamp runs down the swamp along his line Et 145 poles to his corner then with his other line North 4 Et 42 poles to a white oak on the north side sd swamp then down said swamp Et 16 poles to a pine the No 160 poles to a pine then Wt 128 poles to David Evans line then along said line So 133 poles to a red oak on swamp then up the same to the beginning as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said William Foakes his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said William Foakes shall this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall same be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire our Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Govr ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
